I feel flattered though I've found this randomly... :D

Triple J, I've looked around in your level a bit, and there's quite few water so far. If you're doing more than one level and the other level is full of water, then it's alright, but else it's very critical since there are three or four areas where there's just water at the ground, so it can't be considered as a main gimmick.

Rating standards: show
1 star: (0 - 5.75 in LDC) These levels need a lot of work. They're totally un-elaborated, and/or inherently flawed due to things like cutoff or enemy spam, or they're untested and there are too many bugs gameplay-wise, in short: Many many things went wrong in such a level.

2 stars: (6 - 9.75) These levels are not terrible, but poor. They're too short, lack scenery or they have errors and/or bugs but it's still barely enjoyable. Again, spend more effort and try to do better. (if it's your first level that I rate two stars, it's not bad. There's a long way you can still go)

3 stars: (10 - 12.75) These levels are about mediocre. They may be still a little bit short, the gameplay is fine but not very original and graphics are also solid, but not breath-taking. Try to keep improving!

4 stars: (13 - 15) These levels are nice, but not the best. Effort has been put into them, there can some professionality be seen in gameplay and graphics, they're a nice experience to play, but there are still things you can do to make it even better. Try to go the extra mile!

5 stars: (15.25 - 20) These are really great levels, those which, as said, I would give more than 15 in an LDC. These suffice many high requirements, and it already goes into subtleties if you want to make them better. These levels are successful all around. Bravo.

These are just general principles I try to follow when rating. Sometimes I don't leave a further comment when rating, most times I do, if you have questions about it, feel free to ask further.

Try not to worry about the progress of other people's entries, if there was anything seriously wrong like the level was missing water when 75% or more of the level was complete then I'd say it's a time to worry. But otherwise nah I think it's probably leading up to something more theme-related.

I did intensive part on one of the rooms. I'm keeping it small, so it makes it easier for me. I've got 24 days to knock out one big temple, two chase scenes through one area, and five segments of this level. So that's about 13, 14 segments and of course the story. I can totally do that.

It's so ♥♥♥♥ good to be back in the saddle again.

I'm still working on it, really. It isn't exactly presented in the Vault yet, but right now I'm working with much more water. :3


I'm a little upset that my level is getting somewhat laggy and having a rather longer loading time, but it would require too many sacrifices that'll completely dissatisfy me, so I'm expecting point reductions.

When I played it, it took a bit long to load but it didn't lag. Loading time doesn't matter if the level is easy and you don't die, lag is a way bigger issue.

You just excluded the common scenarios where loading time IS a big issue - hard levels and people perhaps not being the Next Supreme of video games

Loading time is always an issue IMO. And if the level has a long loading time AND is hard it often also reduces fun score.

Basically from what I've seen it's often like this:

If a level has a longer loading time (maybe one or two crash warnings), it reduces the other score, but if it's fun and easy the Fun category stays unchanged. If the level is hard AND takes a long time to load, then people often take away a few points from the fun category, even though the level itself is fun - it just loads too long for the fun to stay.

This is why I've been adding safety nets in my entry (something I rarely have done in my levels); if I can't reduce the loading time, I'm going to neglect death traps.
