But that's in LL. In LL codes are usually longer, because of all these trigger codes and crap.
In SM63 it's probably different. My longest code (SMA World 4 - Hanmeus' Castle) is just more than 9 complete pages with the same settings, and 68,141 characters long. It contains 2 blosses, a whole bunch of bullet bills, one snake platform, two versions of the same big room and 10 versions of a tiny room (for a puzzle) and rotating blocks and flame throwers everywhere, and is 982 tiles long. In SM63, I doubt it's possible to go that further without crashing, so I would say 10-15 pages is like a maximum for a playable SM63 level
Anyway, like MP3 said, going for the longest code isn't the best idea. Remember the first rule of Level Designing: Quality over quantity. Buff won the 20th LDC with a Pure-Platformer, crushing two huge level series, one of them contained the level I mentioned above
