31ˢᵗ SM63 Level Designer Contest

Good evening, everyone! Welcome to the 31ˢᵗ Super Mario 63 Contest! Are you ready to rumble?

I sure am, but I should begin with an important reminder. A while back, Runouw has shut down all game hosting on this website. This means that our local downloadable version is gone, and that there's no more Standalone Level Designer either. Fear not, for we have solutions. First off, you can go for Newgrounds' version of the game. Alternatively, you can fetch a copy of the downloadable version here. Yarr!

Either way you go, you'll be handling a full version of the game, with no saved data and all the neat tilesets mercilessly locked away. To go around this limitation, you must type cheat while you're in the main menu, and try out the extra features on the secret menu. Worst case scenario, you'll have to unlock 43 Star Coins on the Star Map, play the tutorial and save the game. The good news is: no-one will be missing out on any water bottles for a while.

Let's talk rules, shall we?

  1. Your entrant may feature up to three levels.
  2. The entrants must follow the theme below. The latest update posted in the Vault prior to the deadline will be judged.
  3. No conspiring with time babies. Judgings will disregard any levels designed and/or published prior to this thread.
  4. Young sailors roam these lands. Refrain from mature themes and foul language.
  5. Assembling your crew: You may recruit up to one buddy with whom you will collaborate with.
Any entrant trespassing the aforementioned rules will be prompted to walk the plank.

This time, our judgings will be presented with a small twist.
    Gameplay: 10 points out of 20
      In this category, we will evaluate how much your entries have turned out. How much fun is it? Are there any fresh bits of platforming? And, to an extent, how well can the game handle running your levels?
    Graphics: 5 points out of 20
      This category handles your level's presentation. Here, we'll write down some thoughts about your level's setting, tiling and decoration.
    Other: 5 points out of 20
      This category handles tidbits that don't quite fit on either of the above, should enough emphasis on them be given. Starting off of 3 points, we will issue bonuses and penalties as necessary.

It's so weird how everything I ever suggest is automatically the least popular. It makes me feel unintelligent.

Having a different opinion doesn't make you less intelligent than anyone else.

Anyway, I may or may not join. I'm not exactly thrilled for the theme either, but I've had ideas for something like this for a while.

For some reason the 'Unlock Everything' button doesn't unlock any of the LD features for me. Am I doing something wrong here? I was under the impression that the 'Unlock Everything' button unlocked...well, everything.

If that doesn't work just toggle all the star coins on. It's what I do.
