Here be mah judgings.
judgings....don't judge. lolz pun.: show
Destroyer1’s level
FUN: 3/10
I found the level to be incredibly tedious, with no sense of originality; nothing is necessarily difficult, and the areas that are meant to be challenging are crafted poorly. Overall, the level is not fun.
GRAPHICS: 1/5
There is no sense of decoration in the level. A lot of the item placement is bad, and there is much cutoff in your level.
OTHER: 3/5
No comment.
OVERALL: 7/20
The biggest problem with this level is that it seems too rushed. Every aspect is extremely dull; it seems you slapped this level together in 10, maybe 15 minutes. Focus on investing more time in your future levels, and the end result will definitely be better.
------
Yoshi Boo 118’s level
FUN: 7/10
The level had some interesting concepts, but many of them failed to execute as best as they could have. The level is too straightforward. While I do enjoy the plot, it doesn’t necessarily (for me, anyway) add to the fun of the level. The comet part of the level was, again, an interesting concept, but I get more of a feeling of floating rocks than I do comets. Also, some of the rocks are too far away from the others for you to jump to, which can become a problem if you don’t have the FLUDD (this is actually how I lost my first life). Overall, it was a good level, but can be improved on.
GRAPHICS: 3/5
They were simple, while not gorgeous. There was some cutoff which I questioned of whether it was intentional or not. Aside from that, the level isn’t bad looking.
OTHER: 3/5

OVERALL: 13/20
A nice try, Yoshi Boo. I can tell a lot of effort went into this level, but when all is said and done, you have to make sure that everything is not only done, but done correctly.
------
Alucardx60’s level
FUN: 6/10
This level was fair in terms of fun; nothing wowed me, the platforming was kept simple, and while there were some creative uses for the blocks, none changed around the gameplay so much that it made the level any more engaging. In fact, with Hover Fludd, many of the obstacles can be surpassed. At some areas I felt the obstacles were just a scramble of objects. It was fair, but not great.
GRAPHICS: 3/5
You started off well, but after the start of the level, it seems you barely worked on graphics at all. There is no cutoff, however, which is good.
OTHER: 3/5
No comment.
OVERALL: 12/20
This was a short and pleasant level to play, but I sense a feeling of unbalance when you combine simple platforming with advanced platforming such as moving blocks which, for the record, are not pulled off too well.
------
MessengerOfDreams/Venexis’ level
FUN: 9/10
You knew this review was coming, mah boi. And what can I say? The level is fantastic! Down to every last detail, I had a blast playing it. The way you design the platforms, or hide the mushrooms and coins, or present the overall story, are all done with extreme care. That’s not to say the level lacks any flaws, however. The first part of the level, at the point where enemies begin to drop, will drop a koopa which is practically invisible until it lands on the ground, and thus, hitting and damaging you. Of course the first time around you’ll have no idea that the koopa is there, so you’ll probably take the damage. And then, there’s a glitch in the third part of the level right when you start the level up. Apparently you placed Mario wrong and the level defaulted to an undefined level. I tested multiple times to make sure it wasn’t just a one-time thing and, sure enough, Mario was places wrong. I moved him just a little and the issue was fixed. Overall, though, said flaws cannot hold back what is an otherwise amazing level.
GRAPHICS: 5/5
Like I said, every last detail seems like it was taken into consideration, and that statement still rolls for the graphics as well. What can I say? They’re amazing!
OTHER: 4/5
+1--the traveling worms were a very good idea and very well pulled off.
OVERALL: 18/20
Looks like collaboration pulled off because the level is very well done. Congrats!
------
MushrooMario’s level
FUN: 6/10
This was a pretty basic collect-the-coins level. You keep everything simple, which doesn’t pay off as too much as a problem but results in a lack of actual fun. Enemies aren’t strategically placed to a point where they pose as a real challenge, and everything else you use seems to have been done a million times. Two warp pipes are hidden to, I don’t know, up the challenge, but I found both of them quite easily.
GRAPHICS: 3/5
There’s some decoration in a few areas, and no cutoff that I noticed, but it isn’t jaw-dropping.
OTHER: 2/5
-1--Forget to add a red coin? There were only seven of them. Or was that just a sign fail?
OVERALL: 11/10
Simplicity doesn’t always pay off; the level serves as a fun little mini-challenge, but as a whole, it doesn’t quite stand on its own.
------
MRHOTDOG1234’s level
FUN: 4/10
This was kept at the bare minimum of any type of fun platforming. All three of the silver stars are way too simple to collect; the one that seems to have gotten the most treatment was the one where you obtain Rocket FLUDD, and the other two are laughable.
GRAPHICS: 2/5
The Rocket FLUDD part seems to have been handled with a bit of care, but what about the rest of the level? There seems to be random blocks and platforms everywhere you look.
OTHER: 4/5
+1--I like the Mario sprite you designed; it looks very accurate.
OVERALL: 10/20
This was definitely an example of an unbalanced level. One moment the graphics and platforms serve as a fair challenge, and the next it seems a tornado visited your level and tossed everything in all different directions. Very unorganized, and overall, not a great level.
------
Jac1
FUN: 6/10
The level was actually pretty fun, to a certain degree. I particularly liked the first part of having to climb to the top; while simple, it was done pretty well. The second part, however, is not done as well, as Rocket FLUUD makes it extremely simple.
GRAPHICS: 2/5
No decoration, and there seems to be some tile cutoff.
OTHER: 3/5
No comment.
OVERALL: 11/20
The level started out fairly good, but went downhill afterwards. It was good, but not amazing.
------
MICrophone’s level
FUN: 7/10
This was a very interesting and entertaining level, held down by only a few flaws. These flaws pertain to the platforming itself. Some areas require the most precise jumping, and it’s a pain getting far in this level only to land one step short of a platform and have to redo everything over; even with the checkpoints there is usually still a big area you have to recover. Other than the unnecessary difficulty in some areas, there isn’t much wrong with your level. There’s one part, however, that really irritated me, where you have to hop from koopa to platform. If you miss the platform, you’re able to land on a mushroom platform directly below, making it seem like you can recover. However, I checked it, and this jump is impossible without some type of FLUDD (and during this part of the level, you don’t have FLUDD).
GRAPHICS: 5/5
They’re downright gorgeous. No cutoff, plenty of suitable decoration; it’s perfect.
OTHER: 3/5
No comment.
OVERALL: 15/20
You tried, my zombified friend, and for the most part your efforts show. Make considerations into the fact that it isn’t that quite to make exact jumps precisely where you want us to (or you can design a way where even if we fail, we don’t die), and I’ll be looking forward to your future levels even more than I did this one. (OMG Bruce Willis)
------
Blakunosi’s level
FUN: 7/10
This was actually a good attempt at a simplistic level, with great coin placing, but it holds one flaw: it’s not hard at all! Coins are placed good but the design of the level is that there is no real strategic way to placing the coins somewhere, and thus upping the challenge. It’s pretty straight forward all the way to the end. There was one clever way you used the warp pipe in order to collect the coin, but then you had to regain all ground you lost…I wish you had stuck to that type of challenge more than relying on challenging platforming skills, which your level lacks.
GRAPHICS: 2/5
There is a bit decoration, but nothing to wow me…and to be honest, there isn’t much to the scenery other than warp pipes.
OTHER: 3/5
No comment.
OVERALL: 12/20
This was one of the better platforming levels, but it just lacked a sense of difficulty, which held it down a bit. There are other minor flaws, but that was definitely the biggest one.
------
Zebrestalala’s level
FUN: 9/10
This is a masterpiece, my friend. Built from the ground up, the masterpiece you’ve created shines every level. It doesn’t get much better than this. It’s just too bad that there are a few issues in the first part that hold this level back from perfection, but it’s not far off. Said issues include not being able to pass one of the platforms near the beginning, and also having a fixed camera at the area where you have to float. The latter problem is a big one because the camera can only become normal again once you ground pound to regain your jumping, but you also won’t be able to continue because the floating was required to continue further.
GRAPHICS: 5/5
I always noticed you to take a different approach on graphics than other designers do. You don’t worry all that much on using the same blocks and making them as awesome as possible; you focus more on mixing and combining different blocks to produce an effect which would otherwise be cutoff, but it’s not. It makes your levels feel much more scenic in a way I can’t describe. They take the meaning of good graphics to an entire new level.
OTHER: 3/5
No comment.
OVERALL: 17/20
One of the best levels I’ve played in a while, and though there are issues in a few areas, they are minor and do not conceal the undeniable fact that this level is just pure awesome!
------
Nongplang’s level
FUN: 6/10
This level had some well done platforming techniques to perform, but sadly, the lag in this level makes it barely unplayable. Aside from that, it’s nothing amazing, but nothing too bad either.
GRAPHICS: 4/5
They’re quite good. I would’ve liked to see a little more than just grass tiles and trees, but aside from that the level looks great.
OTHER: 2/5
-1--Lag.
OVERALL: 12/20
It was a pretty solid level let down by numerous faults.
------
OldSchoolGamer’s level
FUN: 9/10
This was a very well done collect-the-silver stars level. The platforming is done very well, and the entire setup of the level provides a challenging yet entertaining star hunt.
GRAPHICS: 5/5
They were very good; I saw nothing wrong with them.
OTHER: 3/5
No comment.
OVERALL: 17/20
This was one of the best collect-based levels I’ve ever seen. It provides a perfect balance of challenge and fun. Great job!
------
Nin10mode’s level
FUN: 7/10
This was a fun and simple level with nothing too extraordinary packed inside, but overall, it kept me entertained. I liked you seasons-switch idea, but I only wish it affected the game play more than simply switching around the types of coins and freezing/unfreezing the water
GRAPHICS: 4/5
Graphics were pretty good must of the time, however there were some areas that looked a bit funky.
OTHER: 4/5
+1--Cool seasons-switch idea pulled off well
OVERALL: 15/20
The level wasn’t half-bad, and while it holds some flaws, it’s nothing too major in which I can’t end my review by saying that this was indeed a good level. Good job!
------
PokemonXD’s level
FUN: 5/10
The multiple-challenge idea is an interesting and fun part of a level pulled off numerous times, but it’s only fun if the idea can be pulled off right. All of your challenges are simply bland, and aren’t unique nor fun.
GRAPHICS: 1/5
With poor challenges must come poor graphics, and this level unfortunately must remind us of that. Everything looks like it was put together in about 5 seconds, with no sense of decoration, and a lot of cutoff. In fact, in most areas you just used the same exact tile over and over again.
OTHER: 3/5
No comment.
OVERALL: 9/20
Knowing this level was incomplete before I had even played it, I had a bit of reason to believe that if you had completed it, it could’ve turned out alright. Seeing what you have now, I’ll have to take that thought back. It seemed you focused so much on the concept of multiple challenges that you forgot about what’s more important--the challenges themselves.
------
Marby’s level
FUN: 1/10
…You have to be kidding me. This was it? There are so many places to start with how horribly designed this level is that I am at a loss for words. Should I start with the bland graphics? The cutoff? The lack of any challenge whatsoever? I could’ve done this in about two minutes, as I guess you did.
GRAPHICS: 0/5
Water cutoff, and a lack of any effort whatsoever. However, you take the meaning of water cutoff to a whole new level.
OTHER: 2/5
-1--once you fall down that whole where the Shine Sprite is found, there’s no way to get back up, so if you didn’t collect all the Silver Stars first, you’re screwed.
OVERALL: 3/20
This was absolutely pitiful. Every Level Designer Contest we get good entries, and we get bad ones. But this sets a whole new standard for what NOT to do, not just for the LDC, but for levels period.
------
Jelloman’s level
FUN: 6/10
It was alright. None of the challenges are very original or greatly designed, but overall they were all fair.
GRAPHICS: 3/5
They were plain and simple. Not much detail but not horrible either.
OTHER: 3/5
No comment. (Although, what’s with the smallish spaceship on the outside being huge on the inside?)
OVERALL: 12/20
While not the best, this was an average little multiple-challenge level which doesn’t go off with a bang but is nonetheless entertaining.
------
RedLink’s level
FUN: 5/10
This was fair. Nothing truly interests me, and many of your challenges are just repeated over and over again. All you seem to do throughout the entire level is jump….again, and again, and again. It gets tiresome and you never change up the formula. It was just plain boring.
GRAPHICS: 2/5
They were also fair. There’s no real focus on the level graphics-wise and a few of the sections look a bit strange, but it’s not terrible.
OTHER: 3/5
No comment.
OVERALL: 10/20
The level suffers primarily from repetition of challenge. You never seem to do anything except hop from platform to platform, and it gets old very quickly.
------
Buffooner’s level
FUN: 8/10
I liked it. The level is a bit short, but the challenges presented are appropriate and fitting. They’re a bit simple though, and nothing truly impresses me. But overall, for the little amount of content, you make good use of it.
GRAPHICS: 4/5
They were better than average. While not the best I’ve seen, they’re still quite nice.
OTHER: 4/5
+1--alternative way to get the Shine Sprite
OVERALL: 16/20
For such a small package, it’s delivery is quite large! Err…in other words, for a short levels, it’s quite impressive. Well done!

Mr. SaxMan’s level
FUN: 7/10
For an incomplete level, this was actually really good. My only complaints are that it lagged in some areas and that the meteor part is a bit too unpredictable.
GRAPHICS: 5/5
Perfect, I didn’t see anything wrong with them.
OTHER: 2/5
-1--Lag plus the fact that the level doesn’t always load
OVERALL: 14/20
The level hits strong in many areas, especially considering that it wasn’t even finished, though it does fall short in a few spots--nothing that greatly impeded my fun, but just watch out for these flaws next time.
-------
Animorph’s level
FUN: 5/10
The level is all right. There’s nothing too challenging and there were a few frustrating points, for example the switches at the Hydra part. If you aren’t at the exact right spot you’ll have to wait for the switch the deactivate, which gets tedious.
GRAPHICS: 3/5
They weren’t bad but not too good either. Though I like the Hydras.
OTHER: 3/5
No comment.
OVERALL: 11/20
The level doesn’t really offer any interesting concept to work on except for the Hydra part, which isn’t that great either. Still, it was a bit enjoyable.
