This is pretty interesting, someone completely new here who already made a tutorial on level making. The funny thing is, I was about to make one myself. :troll:

Anyway, I'll give you a full review on your level tutorial. Instead of giving feedback on how fun it was, graphics, and such, I'll note out points you might've missed, got wrong, etc. And how accurate it is.

Ok, so I started off, and it went smoothly. You explained about some basic stuff like item aligning, and the overview of your level. I normally don't lay out my levels on grid paper, however.

But I noticed that you did do very well explaining tiles, enemies, and the like. However, there are a few points you should've mentioned...

First of all, no level excels without decor. Decor is basically background decoration items found in the item placement screen. Those include things like rocks, trees, and such. These MASSIVELY boost graphics scores on any level, and are essential for making the level look nice.

Secondly, don't just place coins everywhere. Place them when appropriate. Coin spam DOES cause some lag, and can also be a pretty big difficulty drop.

Also, as a side note, there was this earthquake on the room before the shine. The Earthquake glitch is when you place two level transitions right next to each other. You should've explained at least that and some other glitches to make your level interesting and a fun experience to play.

Finally, what NOT to do. Any successful guide will give some examples on what is bad. Because as long as you know what to avoid, you can still succeed. I was fairly disappointed you didn't include some examples.

Overall, fairly good guide, especially on tiles. I would rate this as a 6.5/10.

Those Signs (ones that said "Tiles", ~"Items, Links, and Transitions", and others like that) were titles, starting a new section.
Oh, and I don't regularly use grid paper either

Yeah, I did notice the glitch. I didn't know how to fix that, though, or what caused it. The coin writing was a bit messed up because of that...

Team Lightning's Shock Fortress
This level was made for my duel with Karyete.
In this level, Team Lightning's Security System will give you a lot more than shock. A lone koopa starts to attack you, and then find the right path to avoid being singed in the Lava Parkour Maze. Then, take on the return of the Bullet Bill Brigade while parkouring and get to the end to steal Team Lightning's Shine Sprite!

There is a little bit of lag at the start, and the boss is a little bit laggy as well. Be careful!

This level was submitted for the 1st Dueling Arena Tournament, round 1. It faced off against HardyTorchic.
EDIT: And it was rejected because the DAT got cancelled.

Hydro Temple
For Water elemenalists like my friend, the Hydro Temple is an essential part of any arsenal. With elementalists being able to warp to elemental locations, it favours Water by destroying creatues attacking Water creatures. However, the Earth elementalists have attacked the temple, causing plants to be breaking through the walls! Mario must trek through the level, going inside and outside the water areas, to reach the core and achieve the ultimate power!

It's been so long since I've updated this. Anyways, I took part in the 22nd LDC. This is my level for that competition:
Meteor Ravine

Let's see if I can get back into LD-ing with my new elemental level, Meteor Ravine!

Meteor Ravine is an expansive canyon, carved out by Anyera's Meteor, the mysterious flaming charge of pure energy from space. Lava fills the ravine, flowing in from unknown sources, and a strange energy charge from the depths of the ravine supplies the entire location with pure Light energy.
Your mission is simple. Retrieve the energy source!
Oh, what's this? IT appears there is a secondary hidden energy source! You should locate this as well!

GOAL: Locate the Shine Sprite
SECONDARY GOAL: Locate the Hidden Sprite.
