The NaNoWriMo Topic!

Postby MessengerOfDreams » November 1st, 2012, 11:15 am

So this is the official topic for National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo! For those of you who don't know, it's a challenge for authors to write a 50k word novel in one month. For more details and help, checkout nanowrimo.org. They explain it best. Their site is sort of wonky today due to max traffic, though.

Also, here's my concept! Thoughts?

"21 year old Jakob Davis is having a tough time starting an adult life when he goes through a whirlwind of a month during October 2012, where everything changes for him. Friends betray his trust, his girlfriend leaves him, he gets a scholarship to college and a job he was hoping for, but ends the month on Halloween feeling defeated, with only the support of a new friend, art college student Ameila Stoelhart, to keep him steady through the month. On November 1st, he wakes up in a hospital, informed that he spent the entirety of October in a coma after an accident, and his entire perception of October never happened. Jakob must restart his life while shaking the effects that the false October had on his relationships, his life and very sanity, until he is contacted by Amelia a few days later, who still knows him and believes the entire events of the false October happened. The two must find their own answers to the bizarre event while questioning the very structure of reality. "

Silent Conversations and a Crow's Final Song!
My latest story, and one of my personal favorites. A girl bound in silence finds the words to say to her prospective girlfriend as they visit her religious father in a dusty town on the edge of Kansas, where the crows' migration south brings forth anchored memories, the path to resolution, and a new start.

Sounds like a neat concept.

I would do NaNoWriMo (as many of my friends from college are), but I value the amount of sleep I get at night, so instead I just truck along on my novel at my very slow pace.

I'm not doing NaNoWriMo, but my sister is. Also that concept sounds cool.
