Runouw Party!

Postby Awesomeguy 99 » February 9th, 2016, 12:54 pm

Welcome to Runouw Party! I'm your host, awesomeguy 99! (Applaud) Our Players are unconfirmed at the moment, but let's go over the rules first!

RULES:

BASIC MOVEMENT:
The spaces you move are determined by a random number generator. (1-10) This is how turn order is decided as well. Before moving you can use Orbs bought from shops or taken from certain spaces.

COINS:
Coins are used in many ways. They can be spent getting stars and used to buy Orbs from shops. You can obtain them by winning minigames and landing on Blue Spaces.

ORBS:
Orbs are basic items used throughout the board, and can be obtained by Orb/Purple Spaces and shops.

STARS:
Stars are used to win the game. They can be bought for 20 Coins at their respective spaces and stolen by Bowser spaces and Boo Spaces.

WINNING:
To win, the player with the most stars after 10 turns wins. In case of a tie in Stars, the player with more coins wins.

KEEPING UP WITH SCORE:
You are responsible for keeping up with your coins, stars, and mini stars.

SPACES: show
SPACES:
Many classic spaces return and new ones are added.
BLUE SPACE: Get 3 Coins when landed on.
Image
RED SPACE: Lose 3 coins when landed on.
Image
HAPPENING SPACE: An event happens on the board. Explained when landed on.
Image
DK SPACE: An Event involving DK Happens.
Image
BOWSER SPACE: The Bowser Roulette Spins and something happens! It can be bad... or good?
Image
LUCKY SPACE: A Lucky Event Happens.
Image
ORB SPACE: A Random Orb is given to you as you pass by.
Image
MINI STAR SPACE: Collect 5 Mini Stars. Collect 20 for a free star!
Image
RUNOUW SPACE: The equivalent of chance time. 2 players selected randomly trade something or give something at random.
Image
TREE SPACE: A Tree is planted and after 1 turn of it being planted it grows and gives coins to the first one to pass it, and then disappears.
Image
BLANK SPACE: The Star is positioned on one of the two spaces. Landing on them does nothing without a star on it. When the star is collected, it moves to one of the other spaces.
Image
BOO SPACE: Landing on it allows the player to steal coins for free and a star for 40 coins.
Image

ARROWS:
Green arrows signal that you can change path or go to another path. Pink arrows signify a Orb Shop.

With all of that out of the way, let's take a look at today's board!
I call it, "Cold Crevice!"
Image
BOARD GIMMICK:
Ice Patches are slippery! You'll follow the white lines when you go onto them.

The star starts up in the top corner, you can see it now!

Thank you, FF.

Rating standards: show
1 star: (0 - 5.75 in LDC) These levels need a lot of work. They're totally un-elaborated, and/or inherently flawed due to things like cutoff or enemy spam, or they're untested and there are too many bugs gameplay-wise, in short: Many many things went wrong in such a level.

2 stars: (6 - 9.75) These levels are not terrible, but poor. They're too short, lack scenery or they have errors and/or bugs but it's still barely enjoyable. Again, spend more effort and try to do better. (if it's your first level that I rate two stars, it's not bad. There's a long way you can still go)

3 stars: (10 - 12.75) These levels are about mediocre. They may be still a little bit short, the gameplay is fine but not very original and graphics are also solid, but not breath-taking. Try to keep improving!

4 stars: (13 - 15) These levels are nice, but not the best. Effort has been put into them, there can some professionality be seen in gameplay and graphics, they're a nice experience to play, but there are still things you can do to make it even better. Try to go the extra mile!

5 stars: (15.25 - 20) These are really great levels, those which, as said, I would give more than 15 in an LDC. These suffice many high requirements, and it already goes into subtleties if you want to make them better. These levels are successful all around. Bravo.

These are just general principles I try to follow when rating. Sometimes I don't leave a further comment when rating, most times I do, if you have questions about it, feel free to ask further.

Some things are not explained like the item shop mechanics (I assume those are item shops anyway), how turn orders work, how turn order is decided, and a couple of other things. Also, it would be good to add arrows or indications of which way we can go on the board.

If you want I can just re-bump my old Mario Party thread and clean some dust off of it. :P
Expect something cool here soon!

Yeah that'd probably be better off, I've never really made Mario Party Boards or rules for them, yours are better

They're not 'better', I just did a lot of revising and made it more complete.

but anyway, back on topic, I'll be doing that tomorrow or something since I gotta write a paper and do some homework real quick
