[SBE] Project dead?

Seems to me like the project died at some point in 2011. Activity here's been pretty abysmal, and tSR rarely - if ever - makes progress with spriting these characters. It's really sad to see this die without so much of a formal declaration that it has, but I really had high hopes for the game. The engine was nothing short of amazing, and was in every way a more polished product than Super Smash Flash 2. The potential was there, but I feel like it may never be reached. Runouw, what you do with your games is entirely up to you, and this being a fan product probably makes it even less worthwhile to work on, but I would love to see you come back to the engine at some point. It was your offering to code the engine and subsequent posting of that little tech demo that spurred the increased effort to sprite characters over at tSR, and I firmly believe that diving back into it would reawaken that drive in them.

Please, Runouw, if you see this, take it to heart. Your fangames are some of the greatest fangames out there. In scale, ambition and execution, you trump them all, and I'd love to see you carry on with making this one a reality.

First of all, haaaaiii TPG.

Secondly yeah, I myself didn't really care much for any of Runouw's projects beside SM63 (which I no longer care much about) and this one, so it is really sad to have just seen it fall into the background and be forgotten.

Still, there's the reason that Runouw's been a lot more busy lately and has apparently decided to focus on other projects such as LL and the secret collab which I think we never heard more about(unless I missed it) so it's not like he abandoned it for nothing.

But if Runouw has anything hopeful to say on the matter, I'd be highly pleased.

Hey Brando! Yeah, I'm not expecting either of them to touch this until Last Legacy's said and done, but it would be nice to get some sort of update, no matter how small.

This project was defenetely abandoned, before the site was updated, we could see --umm this game-- , Keytar Hero and a few others on the game page. After the update, Runouw said that he removed the projects that he gave up developing them, that means this project is abandoned. I took a peek at Runouw's sheezyart and I saw lots of unfinished games, from what i see only 2 are finished and 1 is waiting to join them.

TBH the only game I am waiting to play it's LL, I said it's a copy of sm63, but it seems to be a little bit more entertaining.

Note: I don't think Runouw will really continue this game, because nobody but you want it completed, that is what I see.

No, Highwire is definitely not the only one interested in seeing this project come to completion. Most of this game's progress was discussed via the Spriter's Resource, which I haven't visited in forever, but I'll take TPG's word for it that its discussion and progress have slowly dimmed down. But if anything official had been announced about the game, TSR would have definitely been one of the first places to know about it.

Well, Runouw's foremost priority at this point seems to be trying to get Last Legacy out the door, and then possibly resuming progress on his other side projects (which is what they basically are at this point). I still have hope for games like Star Fox, but the fact that the Smash Engine's biggest fanbase is slowly giving up on the project is a pretty awful sign.

Shame, because I was definitely looking forward to it.
