[SBE] Why Runouw?

Postby Silver Sonic_106 » May 10th, 2010, 8:13 am

Why did Runouw never finish super smash bros.engine? It was very good, but would be better if finished.

Should Runouw work on it after he is finished with the Mage game? Discuss...

An update on the game was recently announced, actually, so that shows that Runouw is still working on it.

He's primarily working on Mage Game right now, and Spriter's Resource is working on the sprites for the game, so progress is still being made. You have to take into account, Runouw is 18. He doesn't work fulltime on these things, and he's doing this stuff primarily in his spare time. Game development, especially on this level, is a very difficult, time consuming process. Remember how long it took SM63 to finally be finished. It seems like he snapped into a tighter system after GT and the Evil Factory was released so shortly after SM63.

TL;DR: It's coming along, don't panic.

MAIN REASON: He has no sprites to use yet.

He's waiting for the folks over at The Spriter's Resource to finish a few sprite sheets. In the meantime, he can literally do nothing.

But, the character designer will be pretty decent by the time something does get done.
And right now, I am working on setting up online play to work without "friend" codes.

From that online mode you had on one of your older engines (with the rooms you could join and stuff), I'm suddenly much more disappointed with Brawl. How is it a flash game has a better online system than one on the Wii? :P

By the looks of things, Porky's going to be finished first, which is a little weird, seeing as he'd be one of the hardest. Actually, Sakupon's getting close, too. I just really want them to finish some sheets, so I can play some more Smash Bros. Brawl engine! Yeah! :D

The fellas over at TSR are fantastic at what they do. Knowing them, they'll polish the sprites until they shine like a mirror.

Also, Runouw, will the character designer make it a lot easier for you to add characters to the game?

He doesn't have a problem with how to show it.
Just how to make it so people connect without friend codes :/
It should be like a lobby, with bunches of games, and you pick one.
