Hey look, the results are finally here. Yaaay.

First of all, I'd like to say that everyone did a great job, and there wasn't a single level here that I disliked. So give yourself a pat on the back and grab yourself a cookie or something.

Now, since either MoY is bad at reading the rules, or I'm bad at listening to him (probably the latter), the scores will be out of 20, but the rest of the scoring rules still apply.
("SHUT UP, FOUR, I WANT TO SEE MY SCORES.")

Okay, the moment you've been waiting for. The winner of this contest is...........

..............

..............

..............

..............

SHADOWSQUID86 WITH A SCORE OF 23!

shadowsquid will be receiving the platinum medal of extreme excellence, manliness, and grapefruit juice. BOW DOWN TO HIM.

Since none of you could measure up to his talent, we will also be offering a compensatory Halloween 2011 medal to the next best score, which is..........

..............

..............

SuperMIC with a score of 17!

Congratulations, SMIC!

The rest of the scores are as follows:

Volcove- 16.875

Killswitch- 15.75

Nworlds- 14.875

Oranj- 14.375

MP3- 13.75

Once again, great job to everyone!

Individual Scores:
fourinone: show
(Multiply each score by 2.)

MP3 - 6 A bit too many enemies, but the rest was basic.
Nnworlds - 7 It felt more like a "trick showcase" than a level, but the boss was excellent.
KS - 7 Nice use of moving green platforms.
Volcove - 8 Most professional looking level by far.
Oranj - 6 A bit too short, but flowed well.
SMIC - 8 Feels slightly unfinished, but very enjoyable.

MoD's excessive judging!: show
MP3Amplifier

Fun-7.5/10
This level was nothing too special, but it was a nice silver star playthrough in Boo’s Mansion that felt genuine and was easy to play, and I enjoyed it.

Graphics-4.5/5
It was at some places outdoors too geometric but the mansion itself felt natural, if a bit too reliant on random platforming for decoration. Good job!

Other- 3.5/5
+.5 The level runs without a hitch, that in itself is an accomplishment.

Overall-15.5/20

Nworlds

Fun-8.5/10
You covered many of the most famous glitches and tricks (stiff with fear, bouncy blocks) but made it flow awesomely and feel original. The last boss is the most fun I’ve had with a boss, and it reminds me of Temple of the Penguin God. A very, very fun level.

Graphics-3/5
The beginning was quite weak in graphics (the mansion’s exterior in particular) but for what the rest was it looked nice and streamlined. The boss looked beastly as well.

Other-4.25/5
+1 For a high risk level, this one has no kinks in it!
+.25 Loved the sprite psycheout.

Overall-15.75/20
It needed a bit of work graphics wise but it was a very fun level!

Volcove

Fun-8.5/10
It felt a bit rough around the edges but it was highly enjoyable. It truly felt like a nightmare with the lava and the running- sort of reminded me of Penguin God pt. 2, in fact, very much so. That can either be good or bad, it’s up to interpretation, and I found it to be a bit of both. But hell with it, the level felt scary and tense and thrilling- that’s what makes a good Halloween level.

Graphics-4.75/5
Presented its atmosphere very well indeed. The tiling was excellent and the lava layering was a good touch as well.

Other-4.5/5
+.75 The story was very well presented.
+.25 “Only one word… RUN!” Damn, dude, you do the best in game serious dialogue.
+.25 Is the house… backwards… at the end? Or Upside down? …dude, that’s a really trippy ending. Props.
+.25 The lava on top of one of the crushing rooms was a good touch to prevent miserable lava deaths, although if you have a metal star it can confuse you.

Overall-17.75/20
Another great level. Chalk it up on your success streak.

Killswitch

Fun-9/10
This was the level with the things you always tried to do before (tricky platforming, ?Block mazes, lava platforming) that didn’t work out smoothly in prior levels as it could have. And here, it did. I enjoyed this simple, excellent level very much- pure fun, albeit a bit too frustrating sometimes.

Graphics-4.5/5
All the plants looked somewhat unnatural… but what the hell, it looked great. Also loved the last room and the usage of vines and all that. The candy colors were very welcome in this candy level.

Other- 4/5
+.5 Having the red coins in obvious places so we didn’t miss any.
-.5 Going into the last room nearly causes my computer to crash everytime, albeit there’s no lag.
+.5 Good healing pod/checkpoint setup.
+.5 No lag! What an improvement!

Overall-17.5/20
It was the realization of your dream level, and that’s a good feat.

Oranj

Fun-8.75/10
I especially enjoyed this level because of how odd and offbeat it felt. The dialogue, the settings, everything felt especially odd and nonsensical and darkly Seussical. The gameplay fed off of this and that’s something I like to see.

Graphics-4.75/5
Very good graphics as well- you made it look good as well as odd and off the wall. Especially the bathrooms- how do you make the bathroom look great? xD

Other-3.25/5
-.5 The ending was abrupt.
+.75 You matched the alternate music up excellently.

Overall-16.75/20
It's trippy fun, and captures some dark lightness.

SMIC

Fun-9/10
It was frightfully shorter than expected, but hey, it’s a MiniLDC! And it was incredibly fun, although it may have borrowed a bit too much from Etheral Mansion. The big challenge was excellent and getting trapped whilst taking a piss was an excellent addition, one of my favorite secrets in a level that I’ve seen.

Graphics-5/5
Honestly, you make the best looking levels out there right now. Everything looks flawless, more than flawless, incredible.

Other-4/5
-.5 At the end you can get squished out of the level and up above it, and I spent a minute trying to progress in the level. Either way, you can go out to your right and back in the pipe so, little harm little foul.
+.5 Even if it doesn’t match up to Etheral Mansion, the dialogue was pretty damn great.
+.5 I loved your usage of the real life forum members and how subtle it was. Cracked a grin at Yohancie.
+.25 The red coin’s incorporation was a nice twist.
+.25 The hidden fludd was hidden well. xD

Overall-18/20
It’s nice to see a complete SMIC level, and by god it was amazing. Great job!

Volcove's bonus judging (not included in the average): show
Score: 7/10
It plays out pretty well, and sticks to the theme consistently; the music helps set the tone well. Although basic in its execution for the most part, and a bit bland in some areas, it is surprisingly fun and challenging. At least it is until the final areas, which consist of some frustrating jumping challenges and some areas that don't really perform properly. I suspect that more testing was needed.
Graphically, it offers a colorful variety, but might have overdone it a little. While most of the level flows nicely, and has a supporting backdrop to boot, but others just try to mesh too many tilesets together, thus looking unnecessarily ugly. It is a pity, because they're the main aspect that detracts from the aesthetics.
It has plenty of issues that drag it down as well, unfortunately. I need to keep this brief, so I'll state the big ones:
- The first waypoint system doesn't work too well when half of the candies cannot be obtained if you use it. Even after the first three, you're blocked from reaching the waypoint, making it useless.
- There are 6 coins, not 8.
- The last section required 3 'instability script'-esque warning windows before it finally loaded. Was it so necessary to overpack it to such an extreme extent? It might just be me, but I can't recall any individual section of a level ever giving me this much grief.

Er, isn't there supposed to be a third judging for each level? I judged Killswitch's entry with the impression that he would have judged the result of them.

I also take it I'm missing some inside joke regarding Shadowsquid86.

Otherwise, congrats SMIC. An eighth of a point... yeesh. :?
Will do sporadic level reviews on request - PM if interested. I will only do one level at a time. I tend to be rather critical.

...

I'm kissing myself goodbye to SM63.

I'm sorry, but it's not me. The fact I came last in this has just proven that I should be wiped off the face of SM63.

I still like playing levels, but I'll always feel the slight disheartened that I never really succeeded in what I thought I was talented in.

MP3 EDIT: It's not so much that I came last ... it's more that I've never won anything in my life. I'm used to coming last, I just don't know whether I'll ever come across the day I actually win something. I was sorta hoping it would be a level designer based winning.

Don't be so down, MP3. 13.75 is a good score. I got 12s, 10s, (and a 6) and I'm on the tier list. Skill comes with time.

@Amp- You got a good score, better than half of the entrants in normal LDCs. I'd be very disappointed should you quit.

@Volcove- There were... complications regarding Killswitch's judging- as such, we decided that having a third judge that was a competitor was probably a bad idea. Sorry we wasted your time with that.
