Kerri played a tune and buffed the troops around her defensively, including Karyete. Karyete then ran down the hallway, calling for reinforcement. Twenty-five mages and twenty lightly-armored, but agile axemen joined Kary's ranks.
Meanwhile, Robin raised a blazing, solid fire wall with his fellow mages, countering the Novemian bowmen's arrows and the mages' thunderbolts. Harmless had his remaining men turned into a phalanx and retreated, asking Audrey for an instruction. "Fetch more men from the barrack and take the choke points inside the keep. Just don't leave the keep." The general said.
Robin passed a message to Otto. There was no reply, but the Decemian foot soldiers immediately started to retreat. Perhaps Otto just realized something?
In an attempt to regain advantage, Kerri rang the bell as hard as she could. Damien, noticing, immediately raised a spherical shield with his fellow mages, anticipating for sound-based damage.
A deafening echo rang throughout the mountain range. Causing the entire Graupel Mountains to tremble. Kerri slammed the bell one more time, and then...
Tons of snow rolled down from the mountainside! The blood-tainted snow on the hill crumbled and slid!
Damien and Robin's mages lost footings and fell, with the shields dissipating! The remaining five spearmen of Harmless', being close enough to the gate, immediately retreated. The remaining Decemian knights, along with Robin and Damien, were swallowed whole by the avalanche. The three-hundred Decemian foot soldiers were on the retreat, but the snow rolled faster than their legs could ever run, and crushed them whole!
Snow slammed the top of the keep, but the amount was not enough to cause it to collapse. The troops on top of the keep, along with Kerri, took cover before the snow could arrive.
The tons of snow eventually reached just before the Decemian camp. The mountains became rocky and bare, with larger piles of snow scattered sparsely on the hill. Only now could you realize how thick the snow was, with the height difference between solid ground and the entrance of the keep.
The dust settled...
As it turned out, the troops just before the keep were able to survive with 50% casualties due to the significantly thinner snow layer there. It was most likely that the snow before the entrance was shoved away regularly. Robin and Damien were badly wounded. They lost 4 mages each and all of their knights. Totaling 13 deaths out of 25 units they had. The mages were heavily wounded too, but they were still able to fight. None of the horses managed to survive.
Before the Decemian commanders stood Audrey and her armored knights, ready to rout them all. The Decemian commanders' enchanted papers glowed. It had Otto's reply. "Hang on! I'm coming!" From the mountainfoot, fourty-one horsemen rode up, with twenty of them being spearmen, ten of them being bowmen and another ten of them being mages. Otto himself lead the charge with a brown steed. They were approaching at incredibly fast speeds.
The Decemian commanders could notice one thing from the seams of the snow: The snow clogged the entrances to the top of the keep. Perhaps...they have a chance after all?
The Novemian armored knights leaped down the ledge. With the living and dead Decemians both covered in snow, they could not identify survivors on the first sight. Audrey stood on top of the ledge, waiting for her knights to do the dirty work.
The top of the mountains did not stack enough snow, so Weasel was not affected by the avalanche.
