Oh my god, rushing a mini LDC! The horror!

I'm perfectly fine with a mini LDC at the moment. I'm still working on things and I'm not sure if it's time for the real LDC yet.

lordpat wrote:Why so? I am confident that it is possible to create graphical art pieces in the game as much as in SM63. It is possible, and I won't give up until I do so, and I believe it is even easier: with blocks and changing the colors of many items and blocks, I would say it could be much more than just a "style for a gameplay" but maybe even the other way around.

You seemed to have misunderstood my post; I never said they couldn't be 'works of art'. What I meant was that the possibilities given by LL mean that no longer are we confined to use tiles and loads of decoration to be seen as having good graphics. We now can have a sense of placement. It's more about whether if fits with what you're trying to achieve.

lordpat wrote:About the last suggestion, I would like an specific categoration of scores. The point of the classes in SM63 was to offer some sort of organization and basis to the judgings. I do not say that an /10 would not work, but maybe thinking of different number classes would be better. At least that is what I think.

Categorisation is fine and it would be good for quick glances, I'm just not sure adding up the different scores to make a large one is the best way of showing which levels are the best to play.

Oh ok, glad to have that clarified. And obviously that you don't need tons of decoration to have good graphics, and you don't need them in SM63 either. But I guess it makes sense the way you put it.

Are there official trophies for this, just cookies, or nothing at all for the reward? That's my main concern right now. Even if this is rushed, we should at least take it seriously to some degree.

While I understand that adding a bunch of numbers isn't the best way to determine how good a level is, what would be the best method? As I mentioned before, the star rating system easily gets swayed by a show of impressive trigger usage. Adding multiple scores means that a level needs to be at least decent in multiple areas, albeit it may still not show how well built a level truly is. Really, unless somebody with vast knowledge of good game design shows up, we may never have a proper method, ever.

As a side note, I'm around 60% done with my level. Hopefully if nothing else we'll get some people interested in using LL through this contest.

It had help if Runouw would post the beta version on Newgrounds like he has done with the beta for SM63. Several people said it and it's true.

As for the official medals. I asked about that before. Since it's an inofficial one, I've no clue what to do right now. I would say we see how much levels we get in the end and decide after that, if it's worth to hand out official medals.

About the judging system. We could do it like on other places with using more categories and more points to give out, since Last Legacy is more detailed and hard to capture how good a level actually is with using only 20 points in only 3 sections.

...I seriously need to get my level started for this here.

If this LDC gets bigger, I think, this LDC, like other mini LDCs, should get medals of some sort, but only for 1st-3rd not anyone higher.

If I'm counting this right, we have 6 people that are "definitely" going to join this, and a few that I'm assuming are making levels.
I'm in the process of making a boss for my level (my word this takes forever). Lordpat is in. MegaRainboom is joining. Timi is in. Kirby859 has already made a level. From what I've read BY is either in the process of making his entry or is procrastinating. I'm assuming Nwolf, JRFD and Raz are in this too. If not, oh well; the 23rd SM63 LDC had 7 entrants if I recall correctly (which I might not be knowing me). 6 isn't a bad number.

I'm not joining. Also I would rather use judges instead of voting at this point.
