Question, would we have to get another person to rate my level or not? With my rating we'd have 3 people, but without it we'd only have 2.

THE RESULTS + JUDGINGS wooooo

I'm glad to see the mini LLLDC while being delayed multiple times to come to an end now. It's after all still a respectable achievement for Last Legacy wether it's been inofficial or not doesn't seem to change much about it. Probably some of you are too excited about it and jumped to the judgings and scores already. That's ok. Since I don't want to hold them back anymore.

Here you goooo.

Mr dramaspace couldn't join us today, so get sure to left over some cake for him as well.

THE JUDGINGS

Last Legacy Mini LDC Judgings – Blablob

Inclement Snow – Kirby859

Fun: 7/10
Okay, that was pretty brutal. Definitely have to give you props for difficulty. Even still, the level design is rather simplistic, which I liked. My main complaint is that, for me, there was too much trial and error involved (that first jump comes to mind >.<). Also, the level gets easier after the first checkpoint, which is a bit inconsistent but nothing to gripe about. Overall, I liked it.

Graphics: 4/5
Clean, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Other: 2.5/5
+0.5: Just a small detail I noticed, but I like how the snow becomes stronger as you progress.
-1: That last platform…You know what I’m talking about.

OVERALL: 13.5/20

Aerial Adventure – JSlayerXero

Fun: 8/10
For the majority of the level, there wasn’t anything too noteworthy, but that end boss. Oh, that’s a game-changer. Brilliant design on all fronts. My only real criticism is that I couldn’t figure out how to beat it. I won’t dock points for it; I just wish I knew what I was missing.

Graphics: 5/5
The beginning seemed a little bland, but the rest of the level looked great.

Other: 5/5
+1: Love the achievements concept, even if I only found two of them.
+1: The boss segment was expertly designed.

OVERALL: 18/20

Silent Realm – -KT

Fun: 5/10
Seems unfinished. It’s a shame; you had a good concept going, even if what you already had could have used some work. I’ll just save you the disparagement and say that with a little more time, you could have had a neat thing going (based on your description, anyway).

Graphics: 2/5
The details were a little lacking, and I will say the monochromatic green was visually off-putting, but I understand you were going for a Zelda theme, so it’s fine.

Other: 3/5
+0: Nothing outstanding to really push the score up or down.

OVERALL: 10/20

Celestial Flight – Cyvern

Fun: 7/10
I’ll start off by saying that the airship was way too unforgiving. After my fourth go, I didn’t even bother trying to grab the coins; by time I would get back to the airship, it would have traveled too far for me to make the jump. I’m glad it’s just an optional objective and not mandatory because I gave up on it pretty quickly. Other than that, the level was straightforward and fairly enjoyable. The secret exit was also a nice throw-in.

Graphics: 4/5
Looks good, though I think you could have used a little more detail.

Other: 3/5
-0.5: Minor hiccup (or perhaps it was intentional?), the boss commits suicide before you have a chance to engage him.
+0.5: Secret exits. Yay.

OVERALL: 14/20

Clouds ‘n’ Clouds – KABOOM

Fun: 8/10
Simple, straightforward, no strings attached. That’s the best I can describe it. And to be honest, I'm a huge fan of simplicity. My only true complaint would be that the level is too brief. Overall, it was fun, if a little underwhelming.

Graphics: 3/5
The clouds were a nice touch, but nothing else was really noteworthy.

Other: 4/5
+1: The end boss was nicely designed.

OVERALL: 15/20

Realm of the Heavens – Volkove

Fun: 9/10
I have to give you credit for your enthusiasm and for the pure scope of the level (I thought this was a Mini-LDC). It was quite lengthy, and just when I thought I was approaching the end, I realized I had a completely new section ahead of me. Needless to say, it was expertly crafted, though a little excessive. What dragged the level down for me were a few frustrating segments – I’m not a fan of those platforms that pop up from nowhere and disappear when you touch them – that would have been negligible if my platforming skills weren’t so sloppy, but they annoyed me regardless.

Graphics: 5/5
Nothing to complain about here. Bravo.

Other: 3.5/5
+1: The side mission was a neat idea, though I was only able to collect four squares.
-0.5: The level starts to get a bit laggy in later areas.

OVERALL: 17.5/20

Adventure in the Sky – Timi

Fun: 7/10
You definitely have quite a few ideas going into this level. I really like the fact that each area is its own sort of mini-game. With that said, many of the areas could have used some more work. That first part in particular, where you have to get the orb into the right spot, especially frustrated me. Half the time pressing Z did nothing, which threw me off and kept forcing me to restart the segment. Also, the dark area after that was just way too merciless on the warp points. I found it as a matter of trial and error trying to find which pathways wouldn't warp me back to the entrance, which made it tedious and uninteresting. In short, you had some nice concepts with some decent execution.

Graphics: 4/5
Lots of detail in most areas, though some of the graphics seem to be all over the place.

Other: 3/5
+0.5: The orb section was innovative.
-0.5: As I was rolling the orb toward the platform (which was hidden) in that first area, the platform rose too late which caused the orb to roll of the screen, forcing me to have to re-do everything.

OVERALL: 14/20

Yup, just as hard as I remembered it. It's short, and I don't mind that. Props to you for being able to pull this off in one day. Although, I feel this would've been much more fun if you put more effort into it.

Graphics: 1/5
To be frank, this level is really bland in the visual department. It sort of fits the sky theme because it seems like this was supposed to be a mountain top that's really close to the clouds. However, that's about all I can say really. This just felt boring to look at.

Other: 2.5/5
  • -.5 This level feels unfinished overall.

Overall: 9.5/20
Call me weird, but I kind of like this level. If more effort was put into it, this level could easily be my favorite entry. Yeah, for real.

I realize this isn't finished. Because of this, I want to say a few things here. You want to disable the tree spikes. Those things still have lethal hit boxes. You need to add an "x" before the item number to disable it. Example:
Code: Select all
llitem:x270;5796;643;0.75;1.5;-75;100,100,100,100,80,150,0,0,-40,30;0
I really want to see the finished version of this.

Fun: 4/10
This was a thing and-a-half. Getting some of the coins requires going forward without the ship. By sheer dumb luck it's possible for the boss to kill itself. Because of this I didn't even have to fight it. Also, I really don't think the propeller should've had a hit box. The part where you have to scale a cliff to keep up with the airship has a really tight time limit. I think that could've been widened a little bit. I actually didn't really like this level that much. It's okay, but it feels rather unpolished.

Graphics: 2/5
This level looks really uninspired. There are some nice touches. The block airship is a step in the right direction. I liked where this was going. It's not that great though. Was the barren world intentional?

Other: 3/5
  • Nothing really stuck out.

Overall: 9/20
This level is okay. It's not that bad, but there are some places you can improve on. I feel like the airship should stop moving at one point, in case you couldn't climb that wall fast enough. Then it starts again when you land on it. Or maybe just pause it for a short period of time before resuming. I want to see this level improved on though.

Fun: 6/10
This level was fairly fun to play. There are only a few places that are slightly frustrating. The boss was interesting. If nothing else it's a good thing that it doesn't last that long. However, the end portal tends to form right underneath me when I beat the boss. I know it can't be on the left, but maybe it should come up or down or even from the right side of the screen, with a platform. The level feels like it ends really abruptly for no real reason.

Graphics: 2.5/5
I rather like the look of this level. I personally think the moving clouds at the bottom of the screen is a spark of pure genius. However, that aside, the visuals of this level are lacking when there isn't any land around you. Also, the spikes on the boss either hover above the eye, or are inside of it. I'm not sure if that's your fault or not though.

Other: 3/5
  • Nothing stuck out.

Overall: 11.5/20
I kind of like this level. It's a pretty good start. A little more work and this could be amazing.

Fun: 7/10
I actually enjoyed this level quite a bit. It has a solid difficulty that's actually pretty enjoyable. I like how you're always going up, but you use horizontal transitions to separate the screens. The use of Delta Negate orbs was pretty clever. Overall I'd say I really enjoyed this level. The optional boss was pretty fun. The optional boss was interesting. Although, the ranged, red orb attack doesn't always match up with the ground stomping attack. Was that intentional? However, the boss fight ends really abruptly. That kind of ruins the feeling of accomplishment I get from beating the boss. However, I'd say overall this level was really fun albeit pretty hard all throughout

Graphics: 4.75/5
The visuals were pretty decent for the most part. The third screen kind of bugs me. There are parts that the moving walls go behind, and other they go in front of. That's a bit disorienting to be honest. However, the graphics added to the overall atmosphere of the level in pretty much every situation. The spiked objects that shoot out the platforms are a little odd no matter what you put it, but it isn't that bad.

Other: 3.25/5
  • +.5 Your choice of music always fits the situation.
  • -.25 The boss is fun, but unlocking the boss is a real pain.

Overall: 15/20
I found this level was good overall. The graphics are pretty much spot on. The gameplay was solid, albeit hard. While there are some things I cam nitpick about, I think this level deserves a spot in the top three of this contest without a doubt.

Fun: 8.5/10
The first puzzle felt rather buggy. You said "loose the ball" instead of "lose the ball." I attempted to make a platform fade out to drop the Delta Orb, but if I did that where the platform started, the orb didn't fall. I don't know if that was intentional or not though. However, that was somewhat irritating during the third platform drop. Also, the camera in that section is really jumpy. I feel that the trigger should have covered both the door and the sign, and not just the sign. Overall it wasn't that bad though. The platform in the ground wasn't that obvious. I think there should've been a better indication of where it was. The third screen had a decent start. Although, I find the part with the mushrooms to be far longer than it needed to be. The second part of the third screen is actually a fairly interesting puzzle. It's also pretty hard. The fourth screen was pretty much all fun. There were some parts where it took me a bit to figure out what you intended, but after I figured it out I got out with almost no damage. The fifth screen was kind of meh though. I feel that the jump around the ceiling is too tight. Also, the upper two shadows can move out of the way of your attacks. That's rather annoying. Other than that it wasn't that bad. This was a really fun experience. I actually enjoyed this level more than my own. Considering I intentionally made my level to suit my tastes, this is one of the biggest compliments I can give you. There are a few areas that need some work, most notably in the first and third screens, but otherwise this level was pure enjoyment. Props to you.

Graphics: 3.75/5
Woah... The first set of moving, transparent clouds jumps a bit. The green windows in the orb puzzle is a little bit out of place. It wasn't too bad though. For some reason the first checkpoint is slightly buried in the ground. That's kind of weird. I have to say, the dark section was pretty atmospheric. Although it was a bit bland. However, I don't think I've seen a wall casting a shadow on a window. That's new. Nor have I seen a torch on a window. The fourth screen was really well done. I'm not sure if the lack of overall decor was intentional, but it kind of works. The fifth screen is rather bland. The plants in the final screen are rather out of place to be honest. They sort of work, but only a little. Overall I thought this level looked amazing. There were a few places that were a little odd, and a few that were bland, but I have mostly praise for the artwork.

Other: 2.75/5
  • +.25 I find your choice of music rather... interesting. For the second screen: while the first song was fine, the choices you picked for after you run into the ghost felt out of place. For the third screen: I found switching the music to be unnecessary, I actually rather liked the first song more. I really enjoyed that you used Charge for the fourth screen. It just fits the atmosphere so well. Overall I think you deserve a quarter point for this.
  • -.5 I jumped after I killed the last shadow. This resulted in me glitching through the roof, rendering the level unbeatable. It's also possible to miss the last text box if you exit the hit box trigger before the text shows up.

Overall: 15/20
I really, really like this level. It has a few moments where the quality dips, but otherwise it's a solid level.

*Kirby859's Inclement Snow*

Fun: 7/10
Graphics: 4/5
Other: 3/5
Overall: 14

This level's ok. It's difficult at places, and it's necessary to know how to exploit the slide momentum and stuff (Xero taught me how to do that), but that aside it's a nice challenge. It doesn't really have any special perks to it, so I'm not adding to Other. The graphics are well done.

*KT's Silent Realm*

Fun: 6/10
Graphics: 4/5
Other: 3.5/5
Overall: 13.5

Starting off, this level seems to lack a proper ending... It doesn't even seem to have 20 triangles and the counter and other things said... but it's still kind of nice. Graphically I like it, I like the way the floating islands look, with the palms and all. Simple, and somehow soothing. The whole path of the cloud platforms feels quite calm. There's only one point where you have to jump from one platform to another to avoid the spiky plants, but besides that there isn't much. There's also the mini green knights, which some may not expect falling off trees the first time around, and in that area there's a good deal of platforming to avoid damage, since the spiky plants are here too (As well as those spiky trees). However, it seems odd that at the end there's nothing but that pink tree. I think there were more things planned for this level, but maybe you missed the deadline or something... I mean there was even this NPC who said that there were others like him giving advice... The whole idea seems quite good, and maybe with more time it could have been done well.

*JSlayerXero's Aerial Adventure*

Fun: 9/10
Graphics: 3.5/5
Other: 4/5
Overall: 16.5

Well... yeah. This thing starts a la Megaman, and you walk around doing aerial stuff. The platforming is good, and there are neat little effects and things that look awesome (slash that tablet to fly to another cloud! Also, the descriptions in the house). There's also the achievements, one of which is quite annoying to get and figure out what it is... but it's still ok, and the reward for getting all 4 is kinda funny :P The overall level also looks quite great. The boss is awesome. I insist that he looks adorable as heck (Atari Chessmaster! :3), and the attack patterns and things work quite well.

*Cyvern's Celestial Flight*

Fun: 7.5/10
Graphics: 4.5/5
Other: 3.5/5
Overall: 15.5

The level looks pretty awesome. The landscape looks nice and thought out, and there's this cool airship that takes you on a ride through the level. I loved the airship. It's kind of hard to stay on the airship at times, but nothing frustrating. Enemies are well placed, and all, but there's just one single major complaint: the boss. I never got around to face it. It seems that the giant swordsman kills itself with the spikes at the sides of the arena way before you reach it. And that kind of sucks. Besides that, it's quite the level, I liked it.

The coin collecting sidequest seemed quite impossible to me at first, but after some asking around it turns out it's quite possible, but you have to be like a pro at this game, knowing how to use the slides and stuff, so yeah. No points off for that. :P

I removed the spikes of the boss arena and went on to fight the boss, but as I realized, the boss only has 1 HP. Not only that's anticlimatic, but that's probably the main reason the boss kills itself. If it had more HP it would be able to take more punishment from the spikes on the sides of the arena.

*KABOOM's Clouds 'n' Clouds*

Fun: 9/10
Graphics: 3/5
Other: 4/5
Overall: 16

I opened this level, I saw the moving clouds and I was like "THIS IS SO AWESOME" :P Quite cool effect. The level has a nice flow, it isn't too hard, but the level doesn't "look" that great, awesome cloud effect aside. Even the boss arena itself looks kind of bland. The boss is actually quite cool, and that spike wall makes it a bit more urging to defeat it. So yeah, what this level lacks in graphics totally makes up for Fun.

*Volkove's Realm of the Heavens*

Fun: 6/10
Graphics: 4.5/5
Other: 5/5
Overall: 15.5

This level is actually quite a piece of work. Good music choices, well designed environment... I am however troubled by the difficulty of this level. Up until the vertical tower it was fine, it was hard but I could take it. But then it started getting downright brutal and frustrating. Even if the level is so well designed, I can't say I'm having too much fun with this. I mean, you need to be really pro to beat this easily (Damn you Xero).

The whole super squares subquest also seems cool, but the thing is that everytime you die, you lose all your super squares! So if you die later on the level, you're screwed and need to restart the level to get them all.

I'm sorry but I didn't test the boss very throughly. I was way too tired from this already. It seemed quite challenging though.

*Timi's Adventure in the Sky*

Fun: 7/10
Graphics: 4/5
Other: 4/5
Overall: 15

This level's very ambitious, bringing moments where gameplay changes and gives you different goals. It's quite innovative in that aspect, where in some parts you must run against the clock, or can't walk on regular ground... For the most part it's quite a fun level. However I had a problem with the first part, which involves moving a Delta Orb using vanishing platforms... Out of a lot of tries, I only managed to do it once. Many times one of the platforms just refused to vanish to let the Orb fall... Also, the part where you have to collect 21 squares is quite hard because of the fact the squares are quite difficult to see as you move... they also tend to be obscured a bit by the background elements sometimes. Those things aside, it's actually a very enjoyable level.

So, apparently I'm the only judge here that didn't expect me to win. In fact, if you did count my rating, I would've had 15.83 points. So in other words, if my rating counted, I would've gotten second. Oh, Blab, when it does the pawn attack, the one where it drops from the ceiling to insta-kill you, you're supposed to jump on top of the extended bit to attack its head. I had a whole thing for when you actually kill it, that I don't think you saw. Oh well. I'm glad you guys enjoyed my level and all, but I'm apparently the only person that didn't think I would win this. To be honest, I'm actually a little disappointed my rating wasn't counted. Although it is in the rules that your own ratings never count... Be that as it may, I guess this means I've won a contest on this site. Yay?
