For a first experimental attempt with LL, I'm quite happy with the result, and have learned a fair amount to apply to future levels. Congrats JSlayer on the win; despite your opinion of it, the level was a strong contender, and the boss was quite inventive.
For those that wonder why some of the decisions were made as they were, the
original might be worth checking for a comparison.

If it ends up counting for a medal, this will make silver #10 to add to the collection. Ironically, the original also got second place in its contest.

They're meant to replicate a bullet bill bouncing obstacle from the original, with the spiked diamonds being the launchers, but I didn't like it much either. I should've just made another obstacle in place of those, but alas, what's done is done.

You are correct in that it was intentional, for they are separate attacks. They work on separate timers / functions, and thus trigger at different times / under different conditions, even if they overlap sometimes.
Those red orbs were supposed to be fireballs, otherwise, but I guess they weren't portrayed well enough.

Unfortunately, because of how the boss moved horizontally, it was irritating enough to set up an effect to match its placement (would have been nice if X/Y coordinates could be drawn from variables easily), and while I was intending to do a little more with it, I was running short on time.
NanTheDark wrote:The whole super squares subquest also seems cool, but the thing is that everytime you die, you lose all your super squares! So if you die later on the level, you're screwed and need to restart the level to get them all.
I think it was stated that they had to be collected in a single run through. I was hoping to set up the checkpoints to save large square progress, but I didn't end up setting something up in time, although I might go back and fix that at some point.

That was established long before this contest began, considering what he has made already. A contest is not necessary for that purpose.
