is what they've been doing for ages. I'm glad to know that they're actually making the game stable now :3

They still haven't fixed the damn lighting glitches though. Come on Mojang, how hard is it to make lights work properly

A shame that's been Mojang's stance as well- a few people have used this bug, fixing it would invalidate all their work, guess we'd better not.

No. People should just not make things that hinge entirely on unintentional quirks, or if they decide to anyway, expect all that work to become redundant with a later update.

Gonna be that guy, but lighting glitches and redstone weirdness annoy far more people than they help- they are illogical, unexpected, and often counterproductive to typical gameplay. In this I believe it is the majority that should be catered to, and not the minority that insists on using these "features".

That being said, the performance boost from the particle thing is amazing. GG Mojang, hopefully this is the sort sort of thing they'll focus on for a while.

If you want help with your issue, you should probably post your crash logs instead of just saying that it crashes.

Two new commandblocks, one new commandblock setting, clocks are now irrelevant for custom maps to work.

Still not symmetrical

EDIT: the animation is pretty cool. My texturepack totally anticipated this unintentionally so that's pretty great, if I could ever get it working in 1.9

The new Minecraft snapshot made a huge change on how combat works. First, there is a charge time between attacks now. It takes a bit of getting used to, but I think it's a far better system. For some reason though, the attack meter isn't displayed default, so you have to turn it on in options. Second, now all of the tools are combat viable, some being slower but stronger, while other are faster but do less damage. In addition swords and axes have a special bonus effect, swords have a wider sweep attack that pushes back mobs in front of you, and axes have the ability to break shields when fully charged, which is cool for PVP. This is nice because I'm always a fan of there being different play-styles for people to pick from. None of this is final or balanced yet, but it's a good start.

Also, I made a spreadsheet of all of the weapon stats. (I'll try to keep it updated.)

Edit: The new snapshot nerfed all of the tools in terms of overall DPS, the hoe taking the biggest hit. I guess it makes sense for only axes and swords to be effective in combat, but it's so much less fun. This isn't the final snapshot though, so things are bound to change again.
