Fell into lava

So, i was just playing minecraft having a good time. When i decided i should go under and look for some more ores. I then broke a block but...Behind the rock was.....LAVA!!!!! So, i fell in and i was burning, no way to escape just DOOM. Then i respawned in anger /:< Will my items save there or no?

When you die, you drop all your items where you died. If you can get water in the lava fast enough, you can get your items back, and some obsidian to boot.

That depends, because if the items already hit the lava, they are gone for good.

Don't worry, I have fell into lava sooooooooo many times (my first portal put me on a floating "sphere" over lava in the Nether). Next time, destroy blocks a little further away to give yourself more time to react to the random magma lakes.

Either way, if the items hit the lava, they burn and are lost forever. If they didn't, you lose them in 5 minutes. So it's likely all of them are gone forever.

Lava, huh?

The only time I fell into the stuff, all I lost was a half-used diamond pickaxe. And I have three diamond blocks, so it's no problem.
