Free compass for everyone who asks me, use /pointlist and /pointto <x> instead of warping - ask a mod to add your house to the list
Semi-public - open to everyone you invite, but they need to be whitelisted (contact me via Skype or someone who is on the server with me)

Navigating:
The main way to navigate is a compass. You can have a free one by asking Suyo. Use these commands:
/pointadd <name> Add the point you are currently at to your private list. Example: /pointadd home
/pointlist [page] List all public points and the private ones belonging to you. Example: /pointlist 666
/pointto <name> Make your compass point to the named point. Write "spawn" to make the compass reset to the spawnpoint. Example: /pointto ravine
/pointto <name> <player> Make your compass point to the private point of a player. As these are not listable by you, you need them to tell you. Example: /pointto home TheSuperyoshi

I'm starting a little ravine city at that ravine by the way. Houses will be at different heights and some may be a bit in the dark underground parts. There's lava and water down there which I'm planning on clearing out sometime.

For some reason, I enjoy running around the ravine's bottom, then suiciding.

I have nothing to lose except one wooden plank and a sapling.

Start opping and modding people. I'm really pissed that I got lost and there are no key features to help me find my way. All I've seen so far is flat desert, flat plain, and flat swamp.

Well
1. He DID say in the post "there are no key features to help him find his way."
Which includes functions.
2. No Op was on since there is only suyo as op.


Also, I'm sick of the rain, everytime it turns night it rains, seriously, do something about this. Everyone else agrees too.

Get a spawn changing mod, derp.
Then type /spawn.

I intentionally disabled /spawn and /warp because it's pretty much cheating (that's also why Notch removed /home). Just use the compass and /pointto spawn.
