Then explain how all the other servers I go on that use the beta build of Bukkit 1.2.3 and still use plugins like PermissionsEX, BOSEEconomy, Lockette, PvPToggle, etc.

Just try it out. It's obvious not everything's going to work, but it does on most other servers.

I run a server with my friends. Problem?

How would a 1.2.3 server parse the info of all of the new blocks?

It wouldn't. The server would have to update if that were the case.

EDIT: What I'm trying to say is you can update the server and still use Bukkit 1.2.3.

I think what he's trying to say here is that it's all fine an' dandy as long as no 1.2.4 content is sent to the server.
