If there's one thing, it's that wooden tools have more durability than gold ones, though gold ones mine faster, and if you've got gold then chances are that you've already gotten better tools.

Do UHCs have any planned regular occurrence, like monthly or certain months of the year? Or do they just happen at random when people can play?

IMO, UHC 16 was a good season. It didn't drag on too long and there was a lot of PvP action (especially early on, dat triple kill). There were some funny moments too, like Millbee's laugh after that creeper snuck up on Blame.
I'm sad that OOGA got taken out, I was rooting for them. I am however somewhat glad that Team Pink didn't win, they spent a lot of the season caving (like a particular mindcracker supposedly does), whereas other teams (like Team Gray) went out in search of combat. Not knocking on any of the guys on the team, I'm just saying their strategy made their perspectives not as exciting to watch.
