How do you get to the nether?

I really want to find out how to get to the nether. Youtube isn't working for me right now, so don't complain saying that I can just search up. So can anyone tell me? I think you have to get something underground in order to make it.

Make crafting bench
Make wood pick
mine cobblestone
make stone pick
find iron
mine iron
make iron pick
find diamond
mine diamond
make diamond pick
find obsidian
mine obsidian
find good spot for obsidian portal
make a 4x5 portal.
go through portal
Make crafting bench

You missed out hit gravel until flint is acquired, make tinder, light portal.

2 needs:obtain at least 16 obsidian,obtain either fire block,fire charge or flint and steel
build a portal like so:
ninja=obsidian
troll face=air space
