That would be pretty cool, imo. However, I think that the torches in your inventory are meant to be unlit ones, and I'm guessing that's why they don't provide any light, programming laziness aside.

Whatever happened to this topic?

What if they added typical weapons like maces, waraxes, and warhammers? That mould make combat more interesting.
And one thing I never knew, why did they remove the Green Villager? What even was his occupation in a Village?

Might also make it more complicated. However, 1.9 is titled "the Combat Update" so take that as you will.

1.9 is bringing dual-wielding, quivers, and shields to the game.

His Twitter isn't guaranteed to have 100% true stuff. Just saying. https://twitter.com/Dinnerbone/status/6 ... 7464341504

Though if dual-wielding works like I'm hoping it will, that would definitely be an awesome change. Pickaxe in one hand, blocks or torches in the other. Awww yeah

I'm assuming this means that you can't block with a sword anymore. Then again, that's pretty much what the shield will be for now.

The only thing I'm curious about is how you will equip two items. All you have to do currently is select the item in your hot-bar, but will there be an equip button you have to press to wield an item in your hot-bar?

He's stated that there will be a button to switch the items in your hands, default is F. But I'm assuming (read: hoping) there will be a way to equip an item without having to switch it in like that since it can get kinda tedious. I tweeted the question to him but he hasn't replied yet.
