Well think about it like this; if I were to host it from my computer, you would get even worse lag since I'm all the way in Washington, so I guess having a server probably in eastern America would work best for most people.

I'm in the South, but I don't know how to run a server, really. Plus I'm not sure if my computer/internet can handle it.

Then again I have run a Terraria server before, so if that's about the same, I could maybe run one. It wouldn't be 24/7 though, and definitely not FTB. My computer has enough trouble running FTB at 10fps.

I think the main thing is how strong your computer's processor is, because Minecraft has a looooooooooot of math going on in the backround, My freind lags a lot because of that even though his RAM and video card are top-notch.

I have a dual-core 1.90 GHz processor.

Please no FTB, it makes my computer defecate, and all of the stuff in it really isn't necessary.
