What Was Your Favorite MC Version

What Was Your Favorite MC Version

Postby koolkid » March 17th, 2013, 2:47 pm

Well, the title asks! inspired by the super slow download of 333MB worth of all the MC Jars (56.1/333MB right now).
i THINK mine is gonna be 1.1.2_1,if it would load a world without crashing, but for now its Alpha 1.2.5.
4 big reasons:
+Nether (i think thats when they added it...)
+Epic Terrain Generation (at least from X's videos the alpha generater looks cool..)
+Almost Lag-Free
+Alpha Textures :D

(1.1.2_1 cause i heard thats 1 before they de-awesomeified the terrain generater)

EDIT:1.1.2_1 is now my favorite version
World=EPIC
World=TALL
World=Valley-e
World=Awesome.
(Download @ 155/333MB right now)
I hate my old sig.
Because I am more mature now.
Also, I just opened the airlock.

No. Nether is not an upside. The current version has a MUCH better nether that's slightly less laggy.
You can still get "Epic Terrain Generation," but it's not as easy to find.
It's almost lag free because it doesn't have any of the cool stuff that new minecraft has like the end.
and lastly, no. The alpha textures were eye blindingly horrible.
And then

World = Epic : No. You can still make "epic" worlds.
World = Tall : That doesn't even make sense. The current worlds are even taller.
World = Valley-e : Nope. The current worlds have more valleys than I've seen in alpha. And I actually played during alpha.
World = EPic: No. You can still make "awesome" worlds.

All in all, my favourite minecraft version will always be the newest one because it has new stuff.
Durrr.

Karyete: You're not getting any apology, especially after now.
Karyete: You can stay up on your high horse, continue to twist the truth and act like an absolute child all you want. I refuse to give respect to a man who right now is picking up a dropped argument because he simply cannot fathom the idea that he might be in the wrong.

It depends what you're looking for in the Nether. I prefer the older versions of the nether too, before fortresses or magma cubes, or blaze rods. I play to build, and my buildings need glowstone, so that was my purpose for the nether. I'm pretty indifferent to all the other stuff, so honestly it's more of a hindrance than something cool I'd want to check out. Meanwhile a more RPG-style person would generally find the potion ingredients and twisting passages much more enjoyable. It's all perspective, and what you want to get out of the experience.

Anyway, my vote is on Beta 1.3. Call me nostalgic, but the map we had during the snapshots leading up to the 1.3 release was hands down the best map ever. The version itself introduced a whole lot of stuff I was excited for, but honestly the changes were kind of a letdown (being basically emeralds, different wood types, and some new redstone toys), so that's not why I'd pick it as the best version. I pick 1.3 because it was the most fun I've ever had in Minecraft. A great map, with great people, on a great game. Since then it's kinda lost its magic.

Gameplay wise, though, my favorite will be the one they fix the lighting in. Or until then, I'd have to agree with Raz, the latest is always more hyped than the older versions.

Also, Raz, is there any chance you happen to still have that world? I'd love to check it out again.

I have to disagree with you there. It felt like there was almost nothing to do in the Nether before some of the newer content was put into the game. Also, I like a lot of the tweaks they've made such as the new redstone, since it allows for a lot more creative wiring and new mechanisms. I do respect your reasoning for liking your own version, though, since not everyone has the same view on things. As for me, I also like whatever the most current versions of Minecraft are.

I agree completely.
No matter what anyone says, there was not a point to the nether back then. Ghasts only dropped gunpowder, so no need for the tears. No magma cubes. (there weren't potion stands either so yeah)
You really only went in for glowstone and netherrack to show off.

1.7.3 was probably one of the best versions of minecraft ever, if not the best. So many good memories. I lost motivation to play survival mode after they added hunger.
