...You know what? You're right Nin. I obviously didn't know what an RP server is all about. See, given my pacifistic nature, I'm not one to stir up tension or trouble, so naturally when someone does it to me for seemingly no reason other than "it's supposed to happen", I start whining and ♥♥♥♥♥ and complaining. The whole problem is that I didn't understand that it is supposed to happen. I don't question fighting when it comes to things like DvZ, MSG, and TF2 because fighting is supposed to happen, it just took your post to make me realize that it applies to RPing as well.

I just don't even get why I'm so worked up over this whole thing, it's just a bloody game. I even had a whole argument I was going to throw out (I think I'll post it below just for lulz) but then I thought, why? As you said, it's all just fun and games. If I don't like it, I don't have to play on the server. Hell, I don't play on it much nowadays anyhow, and when I do it's usually only for a few minutes before I get bored and do something else.

Besides, I've been wanting to practice my PvP skills. So pretty much next map I'll most likely change to a more action-based guild.

My argument just for lulz, dont take srsly: show
You call it fun when you're just minding your own business, gathering resources and stuff, when someone randomly waltzes in and kills you, taking all your stuff? You call it fun when you have at best iron armor and tools when you're up against someone with god-tier armor and potions? When another person comes in, steals your best stuff that you toiled mercilessly for hours to make, and threatens to burn it if you don't submit to them? Because that is the definition of tyranny.

And that's a good thing. I feel the reason you (and others) have been bored was the lack of people around you.
I have to ask, was it fun when you and your other guild members chased down Master? You recorded it after all.

If so, we should consider suggesting joining guilds a little bit based on timezones, in addition to general friendship, and biome preference in the future. We have a nifty timezone thread now, which makes it easier. It would be a very small reason compared to the current members and biomes, but an reason nonetheless.

I have to admit, chasing down Master was fun. I felt like we had a chance since we had Raz on our side, plus I actually killed Master once. Occasionally I actually think about how I could've done better, for example running instead of sticking around after I killed him. If we had more experiences like that, it would be fun.

But I still think it was kinda jerkish when Raz came and threatened to burn my enchanted diamond pickaxe if we did not submit to him and become a sub-guild of Neverglade. Even now I'm still confused about how that would've worked. We didn't have any chance of fighting back since it was just me and Sprock vs Raz and iirc Raz had equipment almost as good as Master's god-tier armor and we had at best iron armor.

I'm thinking about joining this, but I'm a little hesitant because my creativity lately has been severely lacking, which is why I haven't been playing Minecraft much at all, and I don't think it would help towards RPing since I can't think of anything unique for a character.

I was wearing master's armour.

Also I still don't see how selling logs for profit is a ♥♥♥♥ move.

Just a quick little thing I typed up.

RP TIPS BY CHAU

HELLO FRIENDS!

This is just a little snippet to help understand what RPing is and how to RP! This is just a quick beginning guide to the wonderful world of roleplaying! Before I start I do have to mention that I do not have as much experience roleplaying in Minecraft, but I do have a lot of experience roleplaying in many other mediums, so some Minecraft related tips will be based on speculations and NOT experience.

Step One: Your Character

Your character is a big part of what you do, and when you start out RPing, it’s kind of difficult to create a character from scratch, and even more difficult to act like the character. So for building your character there are a few things to suggest.

1. It’s okay to base it off yourself!
You don’t have to go super insane with your character! It’s alright if the personality is similar to yourself in real life. For a first time RPer, that’s very normal, and it’ll be easy. Now one thing I will not that I do say base your character off yourself, not be yourself. One thing you have to recognize is that you ARE in a different world. You are not just yourself, but yourself in a world where there are monsters crawling around, and you’re left with nothing to defend yourself but weapons you create.

2. Bios should give your character his/her unique traits!
Yes, we could all do a bio making a character that is generally nice to everyone, and that wants to become stronger or whatever BS. But let’s say we make all our characters like Steve. The exact same personality, look, everything. BORING! Having everyone be a social outcast makes it very difficult to RP. Having everyone be a selfish prick is also difficult. At the same time, having everyone be super nice and happy to everyone doesn’t really cut it out. When you first enter the world, you should take note of how others act, and see what kind of character would fit in, (or perhaps not fit in) with the others.

3. Motives! History! Relationships!
What really makes a character interesting is what they want and how they got to where they are now. Remember that you are in a minecraft world now, most likely disconnected from whoever your friends and family are! (Also going back to number 2, this is another time when you should try and make it interesting, don’t just do something like, village attacked by bandits!) One thing to mention here is that, remember, you can talk with other users outside of the game! Maybe if you want, ask someone and see if you can get some reason. Maybe your character and some other person’s character are actually brothers or something! You don’t have to be alone! This is a good segue for the next step…

Step Two: Interacting with Others

Within Minecraft RP, it’s a little awkward sometimes when you’re interacting, not to mention hard. Keep these in mind when RPing.

1. Remember that there are other people!
In general RPing, I’d always suggest conversations to only go up to 3 people when discussing something serious. It gets kind of hectic with more. The reason why I bring this up is because remember, RPing isn’t about making your character the best, (although sometimes it can be,) it’s about building the story. You might be the one that’s leading the story, but that doesn’t mean you’re the only one. You have to make sure that you’re on the same page with others with how you guys think the story should go!

2. Be flexible, but not TOO flexible
Sometimes the plot won’t go exactly as planned, whatever it might be due to, you have to make sure that you don’t just break character and go, “Wait no I don’t want that.” At the same time, you’ll want to be able to try and reach your own goals. Think about what your character would do in certain situations. Would he/she want to get some profit from helping a person? Would they perhaps be plotting a backstab with their partner?

3. Don’t leave everyone in the dark!
Roleplaying requires multiple people to do, and just roleplaying by yourself is no fun. This goes back to my emphasis on interacting with other people. If you’re planning something that could alter someone else majorly, it’s a ♥♥♥♥ move on your part to just do it without caring what they think. Sure, your character might do that, but that doesn’t mean you should piss others off. If you plan to steal someone’s valuables, or threaten some major change, have an Out of Character discussion with them first, and make sure they know. This also goes back to the Being Flexible portion.

4. Implying
Talking too much out of character can sometimes break the atmosphere. This is where a bit of experience does help. Instead of just telling others that your character is a complete ♥♥♥♥ or is plotting something that will end the entire world, instead, you should try and leave hints here and there to give them, (and their character,) a clue. Saying that your character is acting shady will tip them off that something’s not right. One BIG thing to note though, is that that doesn’t mean your CHARACTER knows. Unless your character has the perception of god, they can’t KNOW everything. Sometimes you should just let them ride through the bad stuff to make the story more interesting. Leaving hints and tips DOES let the user know that they should be making their character act perhaps without knowing of the shady business. Basically, to sum up: LET OTHERS KNOW WHAT YOU’RE DOING!
