Worldpainter Collaboration

Equal access to everything, hopefully lots of rivers. I sortof hate making a journey and needing a boat for a third+ of the distance, but it makes sense. With a single landmass, there'd ideally be more effort focused on the rivers, be it bridging them or maintaining docks for navigating them- this is largely eliminated with two continents, as the focus shifts from the rivers to the large bodies of water.

Personally, I'd like a less..... "shaped" map at all. I'd prefer something exactly like vanilla continents generate, just more biome variety, but the gears seems to be the most natural of them all. Especially with some smaller islands surrounding it (and yes, I really, really want islands- sorry Nin :p)

The gear is boring. I don't like equal access to everything either. I hope next map all guilds are more strict about their land, only allowing allies on it or something.

So I'm home, and this was what I came up with for the interlocked C design:
Image
The islands off the coast of the main continent would have the biomes that are hard to pinpoint to a specific element. Let's say the Southwestern guild is ice; their island can have a swamp. Northwestern guild might be air and their island can have a jungle. Ideally, being close together, they would ally with each other.

This obviously has the problem of making resources too easy to obtain for everyone, so if not my above suggestion, they could be extensions of an element's more unique biomes. Water would have icespikes on the island, as well as mainland. Fire would have a two mesas, maybe the island would be bryce. Earth

I can edit my list of elemental biomes. I was afraid the imbalance might make the elemental idea hopeless altogether, but I see all of your reasonings.
So:

swamp = water?
jungle/edge = earth?

I absolutely love that map, but it needs more in the middle IMO. And more smaller islands on the diagonals. Is this accounted for rivers, or are there just not going to be any?

I only marked major rivers. I could add more, but I think that should be settled along with natural wonders(volcanoes, waterfalls, etc.)

I dunno about you guys, but my character isn't going to change. Why would we have different guilds next time? We had the same guilds last map, why not this map too? It'll just cause confusion IMO.

Raz wrote:If I see anyone with say, dark oak logs if i'm the earth guild, they're going to die because they didn't buy the logs from me.

Is it just me or does this guy sound like a ♥♥♥♥?

I like the map design, Nin. I do agree with Ven that the middle needs something. End portal might be cool. Or maybe make that the spawn area and have signs pointing to the respective guilds?

Some of you need to realize the intent of all of this. The point of having a semi-RP server as opposed to strictly survival is so player interaction happens. Almost every single survival map there's been, players have ventured off to do their own thing in whatever direction, disregarding everyone else. Almost every single survival map there's been, stripmines went on infinitely and intersected with other's. Almost every single survival map there's been, the usercounts begins to dwindle after a few weeks because people run out of things to do by themselves, typically leaving me, Raz, and maybe a third user that is relatively close to either of us.

Is the guy in TF2 that kills you a ♥♥♥♥? Is your friend that beats you in SSBB or Mariokart a ♥♥♥♥? Am I or any of the other staff members a ♥♥♥♥ when we try to run the forum like it's supposed to?

No. We're just doing what's supposed to be done. And in an RP server, hostilities are only supposed to be playful and fun. Never ever think when someone kills you, especially in this forum, that he or she does it out of malice.

If you're worried about guilds being 'unbalanced' or 'uneven', then I'll make some rules and further procedures that will make joining the server more complicated. If you'd rather I not do that, I suggest at least trying to play how we want the server to be played. If it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. You can stop joining or you can stay in the sidelines and let your other guild members fight your battles or ceal with getting killed occasionally. PvP is not forbidden.

You see, this is why I like you nin.
My character was a ♥♥♥♥ this map. (the first Raz) Why did you guys feel the need to complain over global chat when I actually tried to do anything in roleplay like take over purity? It's the reason why I just decided to forget the whole thing of taking over purity and just stop.

Also, we never said everyone's required to get new characters. We ARE getting new guilds though, just to change it up. I don't see what's so confusing about it.

End of discussion, if you want to continue it, go to the guilds of runouw thread to discuss roleplaying and not the map.

We need more oasis, more villages scattered about for kingdoms, and we need to come up with our own custom land. Like set a desert to Nether with red sand and lava because it was cursed by the gods.

Random ♥♥♥♥.

I'm generally OK with most of the maps, but I just want it to not be/feel constricted or small. It should be decently spacious, but not TOO spacious.
