Agrarian Skies is an FTB modpack consisting of 108 mods. That might sound like a lot but it's probably the least demanding modpack ever, owing to the fact that there is literally no terrain. That's right, AS is a modded Skyblock map, featuring a questline to progress as well as the basic vanilla Skyblock mechanics. Might give you trouble if you're running a 32-bit Java install or operating system, though, as it is fairly RAM intensive (requiring about 2 GB, could probably get away with 1.5 though).

I've recently got into it a few days back, and it's a lot of fun, even in singleplayer. Being a Skyblock map at it's core, you'll be doing a fair bit of grinding both to do your own things and complete the quest (ideally you should be doing both alongside each other) but it really doesn't feel all that grindy. Whereas a typical modpack would be like, "start mod A, get mod A setup, refine setup, abuse ad infinitum", the AS formula is dynamic and constantly changing- after you've got cobblegen, for instance, the things you were doing prior kinda take a back seat. That being said, it's pretty hard. Mobs, starvation, and the void are all very significant dangers, so beware. You've only got two lives to start. Luckily, if the starvation or life system isn't really your cup of tea, there's still access to creative gamemode commands to cheat in more.

There's not currently a topic for the pack, and I really feel there should be, as it's quite a nice break from the typical modpacks lately. Give it a try, post your thoughts, share your systems or neat tricks you've found. Maybe this could be a multiplayer thing on a locally hosted server if there's interest in it.

Alright so I can run a server for this now since I remembered what the last step in port forwarding was earlier. We'll be running a modified version of the platform map where everyone gets their own island to start on about 700 blocks away from the spawn island. Tracie (LeDerp on the forums) expressed interest in playing on it, and Ven said he'd definitely be up for it. I can't guarantee it'll be 24/7 or anything, but it's summer, so I'll have more flexibility than when I ran that vanilla server ages ago. I also can't guarantee that connection will be fantastic for everyone since it's going to be locally hosted.
For now, we'll have four islands. If we need to create more as time passes, we can do that. Since the server is modded, however, I don't know if it's going to be able to support more than, say, five people online at once.

Of course, if someone else more capable and willing to host a server for this wants to do it, by all means, go for it. I might have to hand over the map to someone by next weekend anyway because I'm going on vacation for about a week. This weekend, I don't know if it'll work either, but I can try to keep it running and remote desktop back to here to check in on the console.

Oh, sorry, did I not mention the IP? It's at 76.194.43.82:25565, AS version 2.1.9.

North island, west island, and east island are open (all are identical to the normal platform map island). South island is occupied by tracie, ven, and I, who are trying out coop. People are welcome to join our party, just know that you can only receive future rewards, and not ones we've gotten in the past. Otherwise, anyone can take up one of the other three islands for a solo quest or for a party of their own. Ven and I are opped so we can tp you out to the islands which are 700 blocks from the central island in each of the cardinal directions.



The server itself seems to be very stable, as well, which is really nice.

Just out of curiosity, why is the server so far back on 1.6.2? Seems pretty far. also just to let you know I haven't actually downloaded the modpack yet, I'll get round to that later.

AS is still very much a "beta" pack. It's the first of its kind in a lot of ways, and has probably been held back because of more important things to attend to, exploits and crashes and stuff like that.

I feel incredibly guilty now, I probably made you fall out of the world by talking to you. :/ If I can find a way to get you a life back, I'll do that, and spawn your stuff back since I really feel like it was my fault you died.
