Yep, as long you have a stable power connection etc.

How do you get the app onto the wii?
Do you load it onto a website and then use the internet on the wii to download it?

Then pray to god they don't have to replace your Wii. Newer Wiis have a different Disk Drive and it can't read DVDs anymore, even with DVDx.

Yeah, about the DVDx thingy, do you just put the DVDs in the Wii on the HomeBrew Channel and it reads it? My Wii is supposely the older one.

Only some apps can read DVDs, for example MPlayer CE can play from self-burned video DVDs.
If you want to run self-burned Wii game ISOs, sorry, you need illegal stuff etc.
