Magikarp does not suck. Magikarp beat all of the HG/SS gyms with no trouble at all.
Disclaimer: none of these messages have been edited, context can be provided if needed (thanks discord!) but absolutely does not change anything about these messages and that he's too overly defensive and cocky to make situations better

Also, Magikarp evolves into Gyarados, which retroactively makes Magikarp not suck.
You know what Pokemon DOES suck? Feebas. "Let's make an absurdly weak fish Pokemon that with a lot of training eventually turns into a really strong sea-serpent-ish Pokemon! OMG we are sooooo original!"

Feebas evolves with a high beauty stat, which you can only get by using poffins/pokeblocks.
It's harder to evolve that Gyrados, is extremely rare, and has equal stats to Magikarp EXCLUDING speed, which Feebas has less of.

In 5th generation, you only need to trade a Feebas holding a Prism Scale to evolve it, since there's no contest stats in 5th gen (so far, at least).

Yeah but milotic is a cool pokemon IMO.

Milotic is the defensive version of Gyarados, whilst the behemoth fish/dragon thingy we name Gyarados is the offensive guy.
