Your first choice for a 3DS recommendation is an Etrian Odyssey game? You are aware that dungeon-crawlers are a very niche, specific genre that the majority of normal gamers wouldn't be able to get into, right? Anyone....ANYONE wanting to try out the Etrian Odyssey series should try the demo in the eShop instead of just getting the game, or highly risk being disappointed.

But well, you did mention the Phoenix Wright games and Rune Factory, so I guess I'll let you off the hook. Those would be two of my top recommendations, the 3DS iterations specifically.

Dual Destinies is the uncontested GOTY 2013, and while I would definitely recommend you getting into the rest of the series first, I do understand that Ace Attorney 1-4 would embark about 120 hours of gameplay, so I guess I'm okay with the people who just went into Dual Destinies first.

Rune Factory 4 is the number one priority of games for me to get right now, because I already know how fantastic the series is from having sunk into Rune Factory 3. Even not having played it, I can tell you that it's one addictive endeavor in both farming vegetables and farming enemies for XP and money, with quite the selection of quality waifus for you to waifu.
Just remember this, when you see her on the street.

I just went through my pile of games and saw The Legendary Starfy for the DS...

I remember having so much fun playing that game. Definitely give it a try.
Expect something cool here soon!
