So I was at GameStop today...

They had a copy of Metroid Other M for $3.99 and obviously I couldn't pass that up. I'm not sure if I should be proud of that or not, I've heard a bunch of people say that Other M is terrible. Thoughts?

From what I've gathered from many people talking about the game, including my two Metroid-fan-boy friends, overall it can be rated from bad to OK. Graphically speaking, the game looks really good for the Wii, though graphics don't make up all that much of the game. While they say the game-play is alright, they also said that controlling Samus with a D-pad is somewhat awkward, especially in 3D. On the other hand, they also say that the story is pretty stupid, especially now that Samus has actual spoken dialogue and is a whiny brat, and the fact that you have all your upgrades but have to be authorized to used them is stupid as well. I'd say that if you were interested in trying it out, it doesn't really hurt you, but don't expect it to be an amazing adventure.

I got Metroid Other M for free and it still wasn't worth it.
Just remember this, when you see her on the street.

It's definitely worth playing. It's a 'good' game but it's not a particularly great Metroid game.

I haven't played very much yet, but so far it's OK. I agree on the awkward control, 3D movement and D-Pads do not mix well. Switching between third person and first person to fire missiles and look around is kinda interesting too. I also like the fact that Samus talks (albeit to the player and not directly to the other people), but she needs to SHUT UP about the ♥♥♥♥ BABY! The baby, the baby, the baby, that's all she ♥♥♥♥' talks about!

Also the long ♥♥♥ opening cutscene was annoying. I actually had to leave and go somewhere in the middle of playing, and it would not let me pull up the Home menu, so I had to just pause the game and hope nothing would go wrong. Luckily I had gotten past the cutscene, but why the HELL does the game disable the Home button?

Anyway, it was only 4 bucks, so I couldn't resist. I was getting Fortune Street and Punch-Out and happened to notice it on the shelf, so I picked it up.
