THE 2DS

TRAILER:

Nice idea and great for kids.

But it's also a design nightmare and makes even more brand confusion. Well done, Nintendo.

It only looks like a small downgrade from the 3DS just so Nintendo can get more money, because it is going to be easier to buy.
The only improvement I see is that it seems it'll be harder to break, without any hinges.

Didn't the 3DS have an option to turn 3D off anyway?

Well looks like something that people who don't like to play their games in 3D but people got the option to do that on 3DS and 3DS XL.

That picture. So... It has 2 cameras on the back, capable of capturing 3D photos, but you can't view them in 3D? What.

Taking away the hinges ruins the whole idea for me. I get that it's meant for more casual/younger players but it completely takes away from the DS feel. I would probably never be able to get used to the controls being on the middle-top either, with the R/L on the very edge. But that's just me, I have a 3DS anyway. There's no point in getting a 2DS.

2D is fine though, because I never used it anyway plus it's probably better health-wise. My 7 year old cousin has a 3DS, always has 3D on full and about 3 inches from his face when he plays, I don't think that's very good for your eyes. I'm glad the 2DS an option, not having to set up parental controls and such (I feel like no one reads the manual of new things but me) and paying extra for something you won't be using.

In other world crushing, heart breaking news, Ben Affleck is playing Batman, and he already sucks at it.

this immediately struck me as a stupid, merely monetary idea and it still does

I wonder why Nintendo doesn't innovate anymore

That design and the fact that you can't fold it hurts my everything.

I don't really see the point, knowing you can remove the 3D and add parental control on the 3DS. I guess it's to make it more affordable... Plus its release date is the same as Pokémon X and Y (coincidence? of course not). I guess it's a strategy to make sure more people actually buy a new console because of the new Pokémon game, but also get the people that didn't want the 3DS because it was too expansive. But this design and this advertisement that looks like a joke... It just feels rushed to me. Rushed for money.

It might as well, work, though...
