Wow, Nintendo gets really butthurt when people don't use their software exactly as they intended.

First they're cutting out all cutscenes from Super Smash Bros. because people put them online, which, while maybe legitimate because copywright and all that, did not ruin the cutscenes for me when I saw them in game. Now they cut out this because everyone wasn't using it to spread sunshine and rainbows? I think Nintendo has difficulty realizing that people don't always follow the rules to a T, and punishing the majority of people who use swap note as a way of interacting because some immature dickheads are going around drawing inappropriate stuff or taking inappropriate pictures to try and troll little kids/other people seems to be very reactionary and unfair.

Granted, I hate that that kind of people exist, and maybe Nintendo has good motives in protecting all the kids 10 and under who play Mario and stuff, but maybe parents should just monitor that better??? I feel like you can and definitely should monitor something like Swapnote, and maybe you should have a better way of filtering stuff than just remove it altogether. But it's easier to nuke it than to fix it I guess.

Ugh. Nintendo just doesn't seem to understand people sometimes. And by sometimes I mean most of the time.
Signatures are silly little things.

Uuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Two men have been arrested for performing "improper acts" in hotel rooms with the same 12 year-old girl on multiple occasions earlier this year. The girl met both men, aged 49 and 36, through her 3DS.

Charges for child pornography have also been filed against another man, 44, who had allegedly two girls - then aged 11 to 12 - send nude photos through SwapNote. This man has confessed to the acts.

Honestly, I agree with brando.

However, can't that happen with any other piece of technology?

That is not the fault of Nintendo for making Swapnote. That is the fault of three men who couldn't keep it in their pants.

Nintendo's only fault here was overestimating the mental capacity of its consumers.

I think Nintendo was doing everything fine until completely shutting down swapnote. Clearly some people aren't to be trusted, they can easily deal with those people. It's not like child porn was exchanged on Swapnote everyday from millions of pedophiles.

I guess they didn't want it to spread. You know, it was just 3 people now, but the fact that something like this could be done would give a bad name to the 3DS, Nintendo and thus the sales. They could be sewed by families. Better safe than sorry I guess, but it is a bummer. My sister actually used it quite a bit.

Also parental restricrions are a thing. Parents; use them.

I wasn't necessarily trying to justify Nintendo's actions by linking that, but providing another angle to the issue, considering everyone probably thought the only reason Nintendo had was people being immature and sending ♥♥♥♥ pics and le trolling other people.

This is much more serious than that.
