I always liked Pidgeot, even if it was not all that useful in single player, so I'm happy that it got some love. Beedrill definitely needed the buff, since it was worse than Butterfree, and even that's not very good. Speaking of that, why not Butterfree?

Apparently, if you live in Europe, you can get one of 7 free games (just like the Mario Kart 8 offer), if you register your 3DS and your game before January 12. Just so you know, this offer also works with Smash 3DS
