My personal favorite is Double Dash because it came up with a different gimmick, making it stand out from the rest of them. Arcade GP2 is also really good. (I can emulate it on my wii using Quadforce.) It feels drastically different, though. Mario Kart 7 has the best online, considering it's the only one that doesn't give you a communication error every 5 races.

Ooh, I love the Arcade GP version too. Very good mechanics and arcade feel.

I have only played Arcade GP 1, and I thought it was alright, but I still prefer the other Mario Kart games (well... maybe not Super Circuit). The drifting mechanic was pretty weird for me, and the tracks didn't seem to offer a whole lot other than different textures for a different course.
