New 3DS

A New line of 3DS consoles was just announced in the Japanese 3DS Direct. Not as in they're new, but as in they're literally called "New 3DS/New 3DS XL".

Has Amiibo support, better 3D viewing from multiple angles, an overall better quality screen, faster Operating System which makes the Web Browser not ♥♥♥♥ useless, a more powerful wi-fi adapter, and a second but tiny Control Stick built in above the existing buttons.

More details will probably surface once they air a Direct that isn't Japan only, but we're looking at an overall improvement. Just picked up a Gateway 3DS so I won't be getting one any time soon, but it looks pretty ♥♥♥♥ sweet.

EDIT: Aaaaaa more info is coming out faster than I can process it

-They just ran Xenoblade on the 3DS to show off more powerful hardware or something
-It has ZL and ZR buttons as well
-You can easily switch out the front and back plates

So really, I have a 3DS XL and I don't think I'll be getting this. I mean, sure the Wi-Fi would be nice, but when downloading games I can wait. The additional Control stick would be nice, but 1. I can buy the extension, and 2. For games like Monster Hunter 3U the touchpad is a good substitute. The 3D not blurring when watching from the sides would be nice, but seriously, I'm not going to play with my 3DS to the left/right of me. That just seems silly. Lastly, Xenoblade Chronicles on 3DS would be nice, but I just bought it for the Wii, and I imagine I will have much more fun playing on a big screen.

Long story short; thanks, but no thanks Nintendo.

@EDIT: But then again, thinking how the new 3DS is powered up, I'm pretty sure they're gonna start releasing games for that system only, which is gonna make me cry (No Majora on 'New' 3DS, regular only plz)

I probably wouldn't get it right off the bat, but I currently have the very first 3DS that was released (I'm talking about models of course). I'm just hoping they don't make future 3DS games New 3DS exclusive, although amiibo support looks pretty nice.

Okay, just heared somewhere that Monster Hunter 4U is gonna be a new 3DS exclusive. Anyone has info on this?

I'd say it was well worth the wait if I didn't have to wait another full year for an US version, and that by then my possible title choices for both the Wii U and PS4 will be nearing their release (probably).

So as announced on the latest direct, it'll be launching on February 13th on NA and Europe alongside with Majora's Mask 3D and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.
