Seems like Nintendo's already going to unveil a new console next year. With the Wii U's "failure" a lot of people would be quick to assume they're jumping off that bandwagon but there's also theories that it's something to replace the 3DS.

All we can do is speculate right now really but I wanted to be the one to make the thread. :3c

Don't worry, I'm pretty sure they're still going to release a few more WiiU/3DS titles before more details about NX is revealed.

This is interesting though. I also noticed there was a PC bubble in the gamespot article... hmmmm.

I know that, in a technical sense, the Wii U didn't do too well but that's mainly because of the games. I think the actual console is pretty damn good.

It makes my copy of SSB4 happy <3

I'm not saying the PS4 is better, I'm just putting things into perspective.

As much as I hate to admit it, my first reaction was an understandable "what in the actual ♥♥♥♥ is your business plan Nintendo" but after reading up on it there really isn't enough information to determine if they'll continue the chain of making ♥♥♥♥ choices wherever possible so I can't really maintain that opinion.

I still don't really care for Nintendo getting into the mobile market at all partly because they'll no doubt only support the main Android/iPhone platforms but mostly because mobile gaming is exclusively ♥♥♥♥ tier with a rare few exceptions, and I am incapable of trusting Nintendo to do the right thing here.

That being said this NX thing looks like it could be ♥♥♥♥ amazing, and a sign that Nintendo intends to abandon their old practices somewhat in favor of modernization and I would throw money so hard at a competent setup so I guess the choice is theirs and I'll just keep my fingers crossed.

All the more reason to not buy a WiiU in the meantime though, here's hoping for an integrated network of products with a convenient and logical way to connect and share data.

From what I remember seeing on their slideshow, the way they showed their new integrated network system made it look like they were introducing a new console that would exist alongside the 3DS and Wii U, though I'm not sure how it will since it's going to be another dedicated console. As for the mobile market, I do feel like they could do some good things, as they along with DeNA (who's apparently big in Japan) have studied the market quite a bit and have observed what has and hasn't worked. Nintendo has also been losing profits a lot lately, and the mobile market is something they will pretty much have to jump into to stay afloat. They also plan on making new titles and not ports (which will also be developed at Nintendo and not DeNA), so I guess that's nice. However, they've also said that anything's on the table, so we may get another Candy Crush-esque game like Pokémon Shuffle (which I think is a little better, but still has a bit of ♥♥♥♥ design and monetizing).
