Playable Beta of Last Legacy Released!!

You can now all try out the new level designer featuring:
- Morphing tiles for easier tile placement
- Moving platforms with custom paths
- Custom blocks/planets with gravity
- Copy, Paste, Undo functions added.
- Multiple item selecting possible.
- A second background layer for tiles.
- Ability to change the color of tiles in both layers.
- Customizable switches!!!

But here is a list of incomplete things (so you don't complain about it):
- Lava (Can't hurt you, and can only properly flow sideways)
- HP, lives, getting hurt, getting squished, etc.
- Battle system. (I will try to improve it later with more attacks that use MP, and make better enemies)
- Respawning, (checkpoints will be added later)
- Level transitions (But the good news is, you can make levels much larger before it lags as much as in SM63)
- More backgrounds/tiles/items/songs
- Sound effects
- Songs only repeat once (A small bug I realized after I uploaded it...)
- Color transformations on items and planets...
- Switches in the future will be able to create an earthquake effect, play sound effects, change the background and music playing, imitate the SM63 block appearing switches (they CAN already do this, but I will make an easier way), etc.
- Enemies and gravity changing do not mix properly yet.
- Water doesn't exist yet.
- You don't die from falling off the level yet...

Also, you may suggest anything you want to be in the game for future updates. (I will read every suggestion posted here and consider them, but don't PM me about them)

Right now I have only tried part of Level 1 and screwed around a bit in the designer (mainly with Lava and Gravity. And a planet with rotation speed 300.).

What I really liked:
- Level Design
- Music
- The "build and remove blocks in-game" stuff
- New Designer Functions... but eh, that was already stated in the thread where you showed us the Designer

Suggestions:
- Falling Damage. Don't know why, I just feel it's missing.
- Lava being held by blocks, so you could make flood gates or something.
- Turn around the arrow indicating gravity in the Designer - so it ponts down at 0 and up at 180.
- An option to switch keys (why does germany have Y and Z switched ._.)
- An option to switch off the distortion in "block mode" (the effect is nice, but it's lagging my PC a bit)

Imma ask again since it was in an old topic, what exactly is the "Link" option for when selecting blocks?

Player engine suggestions:
- when in the air you speed up if you go one direction, and if you try to go the other direction you slow down the way you are going before going said direction. (hope that makes sense o_O)
- You have to let go of up to jump again


Designer suggestions:
- I don't have the Delete button on my keyboard, so like Suyo said we could change the keys, or have a different button instead, say Backspace.
- Able to paste in codes like SM63 as well as uploading txt files.
- Lava can interact with items, ie: If lava hits a tree, it burns.
- When the camera locks onto something, the game pauses so if an enemy is near, it doesn't hurt you. (EDIT: nvm. I've found out what time does)
- Triggered events. If you beat a certain enemy, you can continue.
- Able to turn off (and on) the bar in the top left. If you have gravity set to run up the left wall, you move to fast and appear behind it.



Bugs:
- If you change gravity while upside down, you go through the platform you are on. (Only it seems if it is 2 blocks deep/tall/whatever).
- Attacking while upside down changes the attacking sprite to the original way up.
- You immediately attack when starting the level.
- The "moveitem" function does not seem to work on the item that changes the color/alpha/hue/tinge of blocks.
- You can't click left if you are on the fourth music option. You have to click right to get to either 0, 1, 2 or 3.
- Continuing on from that, if you click left while on 3, you immediately go to 4 rather than 2.




Note to self and others: Will edit in other things when or if I see them.

For triggers, when using switches or stuff... I'll post a tutorial.

Designer is awesome so far. A few suggestions:

  • When you go to edit a level, in the course info box, make it so you can hold down the buttons that change the height and width of the level (that or just use a function that allows us to type in the exact width and height that we want)
  • Are you planning for vertical level transitions?
  • Not really a suggestion but who exactly is the character we're playing as? I'd be interested to know.
  • Signs can only be faced upright. Could there be a way to change their rotation so you can read them while upside down or something?

:awe: At having the HP meter go into negatives. You can't die, period.
You also can't get coins while upside down.
Other than that, awesome.

I enjoyed it a lot, I liked the graphics, but a suggestion would be to not let enemies hurt you while you're reading signs. That's all, it was great! ;)

I used the space distort move to fit into this space here and made it in with just a 1 block space inside, but then I got stuck and couldn't get out through the hole again. (I did this earlier with no energy left so I couldn't use the move again.)

And I know this is Beta, but it might help Runouw out.

I found a secret. IN THE BETA.

At the far right of the start for level 2, you can dig through to find a small cabin on a cliff. Here's proof:

Inside the cabin, there is four coins and "A future location of a 1-up or something like that". I suggest that a new magic attack be added there.
