Whoa, dude, pretty good. I ignored all the bugs and just went for platformer fun. The tile idea is pretty innovative and the platforming in itself was pretty inspired and challenging without being hard. I also love the graphics and especially the music. Srsly. What music is that? Yours? Damn good.

Not getting into LDing, cause my mind is so fried right now I don't know HOW I would.

At the far left of the start for level 2, you can dig through to find a small cabin on a cliff.

Far right. Please get your directions right.

GalaxyMario wrote:Inside the cabin, there is four coins and "A future location of a 1-up or something like that". I suggest that a new magic attack be added there.

I'm not sure how other magic could be put in seeing as there are already a lot of letters used. Maybe it'll just be too complicated.

EDIT: I guess if you choose magic beforehand it would be okay.. or if you assigned different "spells" to numbers on the keyboard.

Pretty awesome. Here's my comments on it:
-There were no sound effects except for when you swing your sword.
-In the LD, under the Edit option, there is a "Controls" option. I tried clicking on it but it didn't do anything.
-Like GM said, you can't get coins while upside down. But, you CAN get them if you jump.
-Maybe you can implement this LD into Super Mario 63? With the SM63 graphics, of course. Would that be possible?

I like the LD, it's pretty good. Question: Is there anyway to make a block fall down without coming back up? I want to make the blocks fall to open up a new path.

Suggestion: Maybe do something to make the Move item event less laggy? When I use it the screen freezes. (Then again it might just be my computer)

This is a very interesting game, and since it's in the beta, it's still up for suggestions. I very much like the game as it has a very simple feel, while having a very unique play to it. Of course, I have suggestions too.

-Coins
I don't know why, but the coins bugged me. I really think you need this game to break away from your last game, so instead of coins, I would suggest gems or something like that. It's just a minor suggestion, but you just need this game to redefine yourself as someone who isn't replicating Mario.

-Jump
Right now, the jump still looks slightly weird. Perhaps it's the straight jumping with no graphics to transition him from the ground to jumping, but it just looks awkward.

-Gravity indicators
Perhaps you should have something to indicate that some places are mini-planets, perhaps a glow around them?

Response: Playable Beta of Last Legacy Released!!

Postby entertainment.net » January 1st, 2011, 5:16 pm

Suggestions:
• Scenery and ground in the background still sometimes seems to look just like the foreground objects, even when shaded. If adding a slight blur is possible, (which I know is annoying to create in Flash), I think it would help a lot.
• Physics feel a bit off—Sort of like Sonic 4, actually :o — moving in air after jumping feels like it's controlled by the arrow keys too much…
• The sprites and vectors clash. It seems weird to have a vector character fighting sprites on a sprite ground.
• Also, I agree with Remnant, coins seem to much like Mario. Gems would work, just as long as the don't look like Chaos Emeralds. Image

LD Suggestions
• Being able to undo even after you've tested it.
• Add in the "press shift to erase" function, like in SM63.

Bugs:
• You can't freeze time while jumping or or standing on "mage" blocks (is there a name for these?).

Most likely I will make an update in a few days fixing glitches and adding new stuff.
There's one bug with the quality changing on the main menu. Due to a last minute change I made, the quality buttons don't actually do anything. After I fix this glitch, the delta effect should be much less laggy on lower qualities.

Has anyone found the snow background with the snow effect yet?

Think of Super Smash Bros: You only have two buttons, but there are 3 (smash attacks) + 4 (special attacks) + 5 (standard) + 5 (standard air) = many attacks.
I think the X button will be used to perform magic attacks (which drain your MP bar) and then you can use the arrow keys with them to create more combinations.

The solution to this is using the Tile Color Change blocks, but you just gave me an idea...

entertainment.net wrote:• Being able to undo even after you've tested it.

I will try to make this possible.
entertainment.net wrote:• Add in the "press shift to erase" function, like in SM63.

Shift is now used to select multiple items at once, but I'll consider what other keys could be used.
Right now,
Shift = select multiple items
Control = like shift but you can use it do deselect items
Maybe I should make it the "Alt" key? Someone... I need ideas...

entertainment.net wrote:Bugs:

Not a glitch. If you could change tiles when standing on the tiles you created then you could go anywhere. I had to put limits so that level designs would be easier (You would not have to worry about people being able to go infinitely in any direction). Note, I also disabled control of camera zoom during gameplay. This gives the level creators more control and you don't have to worry about people zooming out and seeing another area on accident.

My Suggestion: Add Time Powers! :awe:

1.) Rewind - Really helps, especially when you die.
2.) Slow Motion - Everything will be slow except for the player! :awe:

This is planned to be used as a magic attack.
