Then and Now

XD Remember, ye old timers, when that was a big deal? Getting 1 new mod? Now it seems like we get someone new in power every other week.
For those of you who don't remember, after much hemming and hawing, something modly finally happened. In late March, someone suggested in chat that we needed moderators just for cleaning out the level portal (at the time, Superyoshi, Niklaw and fourinone had to stack that upon their other duties-such as keeping track of spam that was at the time unfiltered). Runouw spontaneously created the Level Mod rank. The next day, marioiscool254, Kirby_999 and Kimonio were hired. The former and the latter would today be known as MICrophone and Shadrixian.
So for about a month that happened. But our three LeMods found that they would soon get overwhelmed with all the portal falling on them. So Two new level mods were hired. blablob and MessengerOfYahweh. You can guess who the latter is now.
So all went smoothly, and then, seemingly out of nowhere, a large power shift was made. Runouw and his staff started discussing creating two Global Mods out of their level mod staff. Over the course of two weeks, Runouw, MessengerOfDreams (formerly MessengerOfYahweh) and Blablob were discussing the likelyhood of turning the latter two into GMods. Part of this may have stemmed from the fact that the three communicated over Facebook often and had a level of contact most normal members and even Level Mods did not have, but this cannot be confirmed.
Naturally, though, Superyoshi suggested that the two start out as normal Mods before taking the leap behind the Admin Control Panel as a GMod. So that was what took place. In the place of Blablob and MoD in the Level Mod Panel, Yoshi Boo 118, Nin10mode and Kirby859 were hired. Also, we had to say a sad goodbye to our longtime global moderator, Niklaw/Demonik, who simply was overflown by other things he needed to focus on.
Things did not go perfectly, though. 4 or 5 months behind the hammer, MessengerOfDreams resigned from his position as a Moderator in response to a long string of dissent, rebellion and emotional turmoil among the forumers. But before he did, he created a new rank called User Representatives, purple-colored users that would be allowed to see into Forum 23 and the Level Mod forums, therefore being able to make decisions without all the other pressures a mod would have to face. He joined these ranks and promoted Doram, Ridder, UsuarioTHF with him. Microphone took MoD's place as Mod, and Buffooner MIC's place on the LeMod force.
Over time, however, MICrophone would be heading off to college. And he simply couldn't provide a large contribution to the force anymore. So he politely and unceremoniously took his leave and became an honorary member. Ridder did the same for personal reasons. MoD, who had taken some time off unconsciously and gotten a new frame of mind, politely offered to reclaim his job for MIC. The staff agreed, and he was reinstated. Buffooner, at the time a level mod and the other candidate for MIC's replacement, was given a User Rep position as well as a Level Mod. And about 5 months after the original deal, Blablob was finally made into a global mod. For MoD's replacement, RemnantAbyss and brandobrawl were both hired.
Shadrixian decided that he no longer wanted to be a level mod at the beginning of the year, so [requested] that the staff make a new Chat Mod position in order to maintain some sort of position. The staff agreed, and at the chance, level mods Kirby_999 and Kirby859 acknowledged their decline in availability on the Level Portal and took the chat position as well. To replace them, StarF and Mr SaxMan were hired.
So, we went from 1 mod, 2 gmods and 1 admin to
2 Moderators (Fourinone, MessengerOfDreams)
2 Global Moderators (Blablob, Superyoshi)
4 Level Moderators (Nin10mode, Yoshi Boo 118, StarF and Mr_SaxMan)*
1 Level Moderator/User Representative (Buffooner)
4 User Representatives (brandobrawl, RemnantAbyss, UsuarioTHf, Doram)
3 Chat Mods (Kirby_999, Shadrixian and Kirby859)
3 Honorary Members-former staff (Demonik, Ridder and MICrophone)
1 Admin (Runouw)
*it should be noted that none of the original 3 level mods are in a lemod power today, the only group to have none of its originals.
That's a total of 20 staff or former staff, right on the nose. Quite a jump from 4, eh?

That's what the forums looked like when I first joined, apart from there were story mods. Chau, Avo & Panik, though Chau was a User Rep too.
But I was such a n00b back then.
