Don't rate up because of the following: people flaming others, agreeing with the poster, just for the heck of it, because the other poster gave you points

How do I use the Thumbs Down button right?
Rate those posts down: stupid, facepalm-worthy, bad advice
Don't rate down because of those reasons: you don't like the poster, you do not agree, he's banned, rule-breaking (report the post!)
Again, do not use full 3 all the time and write comments.

...okay, Suyo. We can only do this once a user, and why does it apply to the whole user? Why not just the post like it was supposed to, like Youtube comments?

Cos I went to make Buff's post a -2 because he asked for worship *as a joke* but I -2'd ALL OF BUFF ENTIRELY.

I'm a little confused with this system. With what MoD said about rating a user only once, it makes me think that the rating system is for users, not their posts. Is it? (Maybe we could have a rating for users and their posts? )

The rating is for the user not the post. This is so that people can get an overall view of how liked a person is. Perhaps you should not have the rating system within each post, since that is a bit confusing, but rather have it on their profile page?

Well, I kind of agree that if you are rating a user, the plus-minus should be on their profile page, at the very least, so people aren't confused into thinking they are rating the post up/down.

As this is new as of (*checks date of post against system clock*) today, we have time to work out some kinks. What Suyo was describing, and what seems to be happening do seem to be different, though, because Suyo's post made it sound like it was a per post rating, and it seems to be a user rating.

PMing Suyo on general principle...

EDIT(echoing in PM): Also, if you could have a link to the referenced post show in the Rating section of the profile, that would probably help too.

I'm pretty sure the intention for this new system is to rate posts, not users; my guess is that if Suyo wanted a user rating system, he would've added the like/dislike buttons on profile pages to begin with. The rating on the profile page is basically what you get based on the sum of all the likes/dislikes of ratings that the user gets; simply put, if a user has many posts of wasumness and gets good ratings from many people, he gets a good rank, and if not then vice versa.

BTW MOY, it's not once per user, it's once per post, that way users can't spam ratings for one post.

My main complaint right now is that, for some reason, I can't PM anyone. Like all other issues in life (BP oil spill, war, global warming, etc.), I'm sure this is related to me using IE. Do you think you can work out the bug and help me, Suyo? Thanks!

This is epic Suyo, thanks! I have two suggestions; in the Members page, add a Ratings list with a page for the people with the highest ratings and a page for the people with the lowest ratings. And I suggest you add a rating system on PMs too! By the way, it's like the Reputation Points from the Spriters Resource Forums.

It is once per user. I gave fourinone a +1 for his epic levels (I would've given him a +3 but for some reason the maximum for me is 1 ), and now I can't even see the rating buttons on his posts anymore.

That's very strange. I gave Suyo a rating on the first post of this topic, and while I can't rate that post anymore, I can rate other posts by him just fine.
