Out of curiosity, when the chat was just one big shoutbox thing, did it use up too much bandwidth/data than the channel system we incorporated?


Because if it is the channels that are causing the problem, then we can take that down, leave the chat off until Runouw can pay off the site, yada yada yada, and ta-da, a cheesy theory from yours truly, who needs to stop staying up past midnight.

I have an idea.

The normal chat has a limit to how many people can go in.

After that, people who try to enter are redirected to the backup chat.

Somehow, all messages on the normal chat will be shown on the backup chat.

And vice versa.

We could have a series of chats, say 20 or so per chat, each on a separate database (or their own limited one, once data is beginning to excede the limit, some of the oldest of the data is deleted to make way for the new data. A.k.a:
Chattah 1: Blah blah.
Chattah 2: blah blah blah!
~Data limit here~
Chattah 3: blah blah blah blah.
When chattah 3 posts, chattah 1's post is deleted. However, obviously a three- member post limit deletion THINGGUHMAJIG is to short, so perhaps once 25 posts is exceded, the first post is deleted, then the secound, and so on and so on. We could have perhaps 10 chatrooms things [Labelled Chatrooms #1 - 10 ] and once all ten are filled with 20 users [that would be... *calculator* 200 users? nice.] The rest are dumped in the backup chat.

What? Not enough room for 20 users per 10 chatrooms? Go buy another website YER ♥♥♥♥! *is shot*

Yes, in fact, you will still find it in the Members page. It will no longer post in the ban logs when someone is banned from our backup chat, if that's what you mean.

Also, please, guys. Suyo said that Runouw has the situation under control. We are not open to suggestions at the moment, so please don't post telling us what you think we should do.
