okay
x = 2 because
2x2-4 = 0
3x2+1 = 7
0x7 = 0

did i get it right?

2x2-4 = 0
3x2+1 = 7

You got it half right.

Since the product of (2x-4) and (3x+1) is 0, that means at least one of those binomials must be 0.

2x-4 = 0 OR 3x+1 =0

2x=4 OR 3x=-1

x=2 OR x=-⅓

So x can be either 2 or -⅓.
