also if we're going to have this wouldn't it make sense if, i don't know, we got something that tells us how big our signature is without having a mod tell us?

It appears my signature is exactly 250px

As I said, we're not gonna penalise users for having a signature which is slightly larger than the limit.

all i'm asking for is a bigger signature limit, knowing you guys won't change the other things i have complaints about

I know Buff said yours was too big Raz but I wouldn't have even noticed personally.
EDIT: Don't be so unreasonable, JJJ. We are listening to you, we are literally clearing up the rules that have already been made on the site. I mean, who here actually read the rules when they joined? We were just relaxed about sigs. I'm personally still going to be because I like to make my moderator priorities. But the rule was always there, the staff have the right to say if they think your sig's too big.
You know, we actually do care, although you might not believe it. We don't make these rules to piss you off. We want to limit sigs down because having them too big can lag pages and that's happened to me before with bigger ones too.
And you actually have a very generous character limit on signatures. I know some sites with a 200 character limit in sigs.
EDIT 2: I personally have no problem making the limit 100px more. Because Raz's sig size was okay for me. I think you should worry when it starts to lag pages.
