The graphics in this are incredible. Especially that delta machine. I thought that was amazing.
I hope after you release these chapters, creating fun experiences in LL levels won't be as tricky as they were before. My gameplay ideas are very limited to SM63 but of course they were inspired by the original game. I really hope this inspires a lot of people too, it certainly will for me.

Many. Well, at least 2 more. And I want at least one of them to feature community built levels!

Yeah, I'm exited to see what ideas people will have after this. However, I'm afraid that this game will set a high standard for the quality of the LD levels.

Sounds great. Will do my best later to attempt to contribute something to that.

If we are able to get access to the same tools in the level designer, I'm quite sure that a few of us are able to create something equal to that high standard or even better.

I'm really excited about the progress we will see in the future.

Looking good, though pretty much seems like level concepts rather than anything too drastically different.

From looking at these though, I would say that there are some minor edits that should be sorted out before the final release.

  • Have a different sprites for left/right
  • Fix the art-lighting. When we can change the orientation of most objects, having lighting on them already makes them look off when they're rotated.

Also, it would be amazing if you could have rain/snow hit the ground with splash effects.

It's great to see you doing updates again though. I'm looking forward to the release.

Looks neat! I thought I should mention that syzygy (as in Syzygy Forest) and zeugma (as in Zeugma Cavern) aren't words that Runouw made up for the place names, but in fact actual words.

A syzygy (pronounced "sih-zih-jee") has several meanings:
  • In astronomy and astrology, a syzygy is an alignment of three celestial bodies (such as the Sun, the Moon, and the Earth) where one body is directly in between the other two, like in a solar or lunar eclipse.
  • In psychology, a syzygy is an archetypal pairing of contrasexual opposites, symbolizing communication between the conscious and unconscious minds.
  • In math, a syzygy is a relationship between the generators of a module.
  • In medicine, a syzygy is the fusion of some or all of the organs.
  • In zoology, a syzygy can be the association of two protozoa end-to-end or laterally for the purpose of asexual exchange of genetic material or
  • The pairing of chromosomes in meiosis.
So Syzygy Forest could have something to do with fusion or some sort of relationship between things.

There are two types of zeugmas:
  1. A sentence where a certain word is used in relation with multiple other words, but must be interpreted with a different meaning for each one.
Example: "He took his hat and his leave." (in "took his hat" and "took his leave", "took" has two different meanings)
  2. A sentence where a single word is used in one part of the sentence and must be inferred in other parts of the sentence.
Example: "Mary likes chocolate, John vanilla." ("likes" is used in the first part ("Mary likes chocolate"), and must be inferred in the second part ("John vanilla" is inferred to mean "John likes vanilla" based on the usage of "likes" in the first sentence))
So perhaps Zeugma Cavern has two areas that seem the same in some respect but have some sort of difference that you need to figure out for yourself.

So are all the town names, although they're less deep, mostly just simple translations because Steven thought they sounded cool.

GrandPiano wrote:So Syzygy Forest could have something to do with fusion or some sort of relationship between things.

You can learn a bit about that if you do some exploring.

Maybe, maybe not.

Only the tip of the iceberg.
