We are ready to roll out the release of Last Legacy: Chapter 1!

Image

It it a short game with 6 levels averaging 10-15 minutes a level. In this game, you will get a taste of the Last Legacy universe with it's strange "delta" magic.
... I'm too eager to write the full description at the moment. Play it here!

The first thing right off the bat that bugs me: The opening letter. The font is wayyyy too small; I can barely read it, due to the style. Some words I can't even make out. Please fix.

Aside from that, there's some mistakes that I've found, primarily involving spelling and grammar.
Mistakes: show
  • Journey is misspelled: "The journy begins here."
  • "[Name], You seem all packed up and ready to travel; where are you going?" The Y in You shouldn't be capital.
  • "[Name]! Can I have your autograph!" That final sentence should be question, not an exclamation.
  • "Remember you can fend off monsters with your sword." There should be a comma after Remember.
  • "Welcome friend. I don't really get much visitors in this old tower much anymore." This whole line could use reworking. Something along the lines of this: "Welcome, friend. I don't get many visitors in this old tower very often anymore."
  • "I'm the keeper of grounds here. I seemed to have locked myself out of the elevator..." Another awkward line that could use tweaking. You should add a "the" before "grounds" and change "seemed" to "seem".
  • "Would you be kind enough to help me?" There's no major issues with the line, but it does sound a bit Engrishy. Maybe change "be kind enough" to "so kind"?
  • "Oh, Also..." Also shouldn't be capital.
  • "Touch it to end the level and save your save file." Using a word twice in the same sentence generally isn't good. Perhaps change "save file" to "game"?
  • In the second level (forgot the name, sorry, it's the desert castle place), after the Delta Orbs are activated, you can't talk to the people again even though the speak prompt appears in the bottom left.

Other than those, so far I've noticed a couple cool things. Knockback on the knight enemies is reduced, making them harder. And you can Delta while on top of another Delta block. Super Squares leave a blue hologram when you collect them, similar to how Super Mario 64's stars turn blue if you've already gotten then.

Also, despite the game mentioning issues with the game and Chrome, I so far haven't noticed any problems with running the game in Chrome.

I'll add more later, I'm having issues with Windows 8 and have to restart my computer to hopefully fix them. Damn you Windows 8, I hate you.

The opening letter, for those who can't read it, says:
Dear {name}:

We've heard greatly of your skill at dealing with beings possessing the power of Delta and we have an offer for you. Our village atop the mountain of Zeugma and the neighbouring shrine of Mount Zeguma have recently been overrun by mysterious, malevolent dark shadow creatures. We have lost access to the central shrine, which, unfortunately, causes a dilemma for the rapidly approaching winter solstice ritual. Our village must perform this ritual in order to keep fluctuations of Delta in this region stable. so we ask you to travel here and assist us in banishing these wicked creatures. We shall offer you riches in reward for your service

Help us vanquish these evil creatures

I think I may have found a bug.
Make a level, Exit the LD (or the game), then open the LD (or the game) again, and the level will still be there as you left it. It could be autosave, but I'm not sure.

Looks like I'm going to have to update the trigger tutorial now.

Intentional, but I think the idea came out wrong. I'll fix that.

It does auto save now. Every 5 minute and every time you play the level.

I'll cover the new stuff in a post soon.

Your post and word "eager" makes it too exciting. I'll just put my train simulator edits on hold and play it! :D I'm very excited.

And its Release canidate 1! hope it has less than 25 bugs. Or there will be a V1.1 before fall. Testing it now.

List of songs that don't work in the Level Designer anymore:
  • Adventure Theme
  • Cathedral
  • Amyxo
  • Final Break
  • Marcia Minor
  • Techno Cave
  • Twisted Polka
  • Winter Theme
  • Sanctuary Echo - A capella
  • Sanctuary Echo - Orchestral

I'd say that's a pretty important bug.

Ok... Never mind what I said. It seems like Runouw kinda rushed.

Rushed or not, I do think this is fairly impressive. Bugs aside, it's a pretty decent build so far. I do like that you changed the sprite for sliding down a wall. The alterations to the knight AI actually makes them a threat now. Maybe not a large threat by themselves, but changes to the environment can fix that fairly easily. The fact that you can attack faster means that enemies won't be as hard to beat, and thus more HP can easily be warranted. Although the lack of music was really jarring. I played Aerial, Adventure to see how the changes altered it.3 of the broken songs were used, so it felt really empty playing it again. The addition of sound means I'm going to be able to make improvements, which I do like. While it is nice that Super Squares respawn, it makes me wonder if that will be an option in the future, or if it will always be that way. I'm also curious as whether you'll be able to toggle options with Delta. For example, whether you can use it in the air, whether you can use it while touching altered tiles, whether you can move the cursor into areas that you can't alter anyways, and so on. I am enjoying this though.

Whoops, I forgot to include the non-storyline songs in this build. It was to preserve file size for a Newgrounds release. I'll fix that in an update.
