Simon Belmont would be proud of <insert_name_here> with all those axes.
Will the mouse be a mandatory part of the controls or not? I'm not exactly complaining, but more so confirming.

Depending on the feedback it gets it might be a permanent feature.
There would be a problem trying to implement the ranged weapons on a keyboard only input setup. But I'm sure we can think of something.

For a keyboard setup I can only assume that Yoshi's Island eggthrowing mechanics would work.
Nice work, by the way. Campaign mode is looking to be a really cool experience. I would say more, but I can't test it out yet. I'd wait for a significant amount of content to be available ingame before you upload to NG or other sites. I was surprised your first release wasn't more popular, but then I figured it was due to the short length of what you had available. (Or it could be me having a biased view towards everything that is Runouw, same thing.)
How long are you planning campaign mode to be? Any estimate on average play through time of what's designed so far?

As for keyboard controls, I think TowerFalls scheme would work nicely for projectiles like that fireball you showed off, maybe not as much for throwing axes and simlar ones.
In case you never played TowerFall (which wouldn't be surprising since it's an Ouya exclusive and nobody owns an Ouya), once you hold down the fire button, you stand still and choose the firing direction with the move buttons. You can only choose 8 directions though, so arrows will slightly aim towards enemies. Maybe it would be a little unfair to give keyboard players this aim correction and not to mouse players, but I guess it could be tried. In my opinion, TowerFalls solution is pretty amazing and works extremly well in platformers.

The first thing that came to mind for keyboard projectiles is some sort of translucent arc-arrow thing that would give you a general idea of where the projectile was heading (obviously it wouldn't go the entire way and show you where it's going to land), but that probably doesn't fit well in a game like LL.
As for equippables in the LD versus campaign, I'd keep them separate to prevent any possible spoilers. That was a small flaw in SM63; it isn't bad since there aren't any major giveaways, but the intertwining of the two (story/campaign and LD) bugs me a little.
Besides that, great job. A little wary of being able to destroy fireballs with a swing of the sword though, heh.

I have. I looove beating the ♥♥♥♥ out of my friends in that game. I was thinking just have a separate WASD for attacks, kinda like a dual joystick configuration, because like you said, throwing weapons.
and OHMYGOD HAMMER BROS SUIT I MISSED YOOOOU <3
