Nah I'm sorry, I've just promoted him now.

Welcome to the team...

-OJ!

Yep, I'll quote Raz's reasoning for his promotion because it's worded probably better than I could word it:
Raz wrote:Extremely smart in everything. Helpful in everything. Great at voicing his opinions in everything. Literally the perfect position. Activity isn't a problem for him (in my eyes) but I know he has like harvard level classes that interfere with his life.

I'm super cool with that. <3 OJ. Don't know him as well but I think he's a great fit.

OJ is one of the most active and talkative people on this site in my opinion. Perfect for a UR.

Might as well post my thoughts on promotions. If you're not in this list you weren't suggested in the thread or suggested by us in our staff chat.
Don't get offended or anything, instead try to improve so I don't think this so maybe youw ill get promoted.
Spoiler: show
Raz wrote:Alright so there's a lot of changes being discussed, and I think the best way to handle the promotion is to go over all of the suggestions and do the process of elimination to decide what's best. This isn't completely neccessary but it's nice to think thoroughly about it, and there's no harm in it.

Doram for Global Moderator
Semi active in chat and forums, but very active in the staff chat. He's shown to be great at coding and site..stuff (etc the wiki) and is great at calming down situations and even going farther than that. I think he'd be a great Glomod but it's a tough choice between him and Nin.

Nin for Global Moderator
Active in both chat and forums, and has been the one who to calm down most situations lately. Also willing to learn to code for the site, which is another important plus. I'm learning towards Nin a bit more for the glomod status.

FrozenFire for Level Moderator
Active in both chat and forum, and has a nice attitude? Best choice (and only?) easily.

Raiyuuni for Site Representative
Not active enough, doesn't really contribute his opinions.

Harmless for Site Representative
Not active in chat and I never have seen him in situations (other than survivor games) for me to gauge much.

Lordpat for Site Representative
I think he'd be an okay user rep, but he's too afraid to voice his opinions and get in the butt of the situation.

OJ for Site Representative
Extremely smart in everything. Helpful in everything. Great at voicing his opinions in everything. Literally the perfect position. Activity isn't a problem for him (in my eyes) but I know he has like harvard level classes that interfere with his life.

Nan for Site Representative
Eh, he'd be an okay user rep but I don't see much out of him aside from short posts in off-topic, and there's definitely better choices.

MK for Site Representative
Definitely a great choice and I know he wants to be a rep pretty eagerly, but I think the almost snide way he presents his opinions makes it tough. If not OJ then definitely MK. (although i guess i'm a hypocrite?)

Star King for Moderator
Not active enough. Fine where he is, he does great focusing on the level designing stuff.

Raz for Moderator
I think he'd be up for it but him having to not be purple anymore may be a problem.

As for demotions, aside from Buff, Chau, and Nwolf, I think Usu should be demoted and I know he already posted that he'd be okay with it.

Do you actually have to be active in chat to cover a position which is basically intended for the forums? I honestly can't comprehend that.

No, but it's definitely a plus in my book. Maybe not the other staff members but I think being active at where I think is the forum's core is a great thing.
All in all it just comes down to our individual opinions.

A fair amount of the frequent forum users use this place to voice their opinions and alike. So it definitely is. I'm also preferring a personal discussion rather than forum posts. I only go for these if something got my attention.

I used to use chat a lot personally. That was where I gained some popularity and support and, most importantly, where I bonded with people and made friends. These factors had a massive impact on pretty much all my promotions. I wouldn't even have known about the level mod recruiting topic if I hadn't seen Bog mention it on chat once many years ago, and I probably wouldn't have been as good a reliable friend with MoD if I didn't talk to him in chat often either.

That's a funny joke

But, uh, yeah. Looking through the list of staff members, I can say that nearly every single one of them is active on chat, or at least they drop in once in a while. It's definitely a great way to connect with more of the community, which is kind of something you need to be able to do if you'd like to be in a position where you're moderating users. Or, uh, representing them. :B

And that would be me. Dammit.

Aside from whatever, I don't really have much of an opinion on the demotions & promotions that just took place, but this is just me trying to listen without really having any thoughts. :s
