!IMPORTANT! RULES - Please Read

It's very important that everyone reads the Rules topic, seeing as many have been breaking numerous recently.

Advertising the Rules has become a necessity now, seeing as less than a fifth of the members on this forum haven't even glimpsed at them. We strongly encourage everyone to give them a read, so they know what to do and what not to, allowing them to avoid any future troubles.

Not to mention the fact that a new rule has been written earlier today regarding signatures. It's number eight in the list, so please, don't think twice about giving that a check.

Here's the link to the Rules thread: http://www.runouw.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=11&p=12#p12

Regards,
Niklaw

Okay, guys, I'm asking you to read the rules again.

I recently noticed some members are massively postcount++ing. I'm talking specifically to two people.
  • a high postcount does NOT make you awesome. Maybe you could just disregard the postcount. Yeah sure, you all want to be Super Veterans, but real Veterans aren't posting 121 posts a day - real Veterans are people which are here for a long time.
  • if you don't know something, google it before asking.
  • no double-posting. Use the shiny EDIT button.
  • do not go "OMG I HAVE TO POST IN EVERY EXISTING THREAD OMGOMGOMGOMG"
  • if you don't know anything about the topic of the thread, leave it alone.
  • do not post posts like ":D", "lol", "yes", "I agree" or "you suck". A good post should have 10 or more words.
  • Also, don't post "YOU BUMPED THE TOPIC" or "THE TOPIC MUST BE NAMED USER7227'S LEVELS" or "SHOULD BE IN GAMING". Report the post instead.
  • Also, keep back-to-back posting to a minimum.

And also, signatures are getting MASSIVE again. The max height is 250 px. If you don't know how much 250 px are,
Image
you can see it on the right. Here are some tips to get a small signature:
  • Put quotes not in quote tags - do it like me, put the names in <these brackets> and you save a lot of space.
  • Use spoilers wisely.
  • You can put text on two sides at the same time, just put the [ right ] tag inline.
  • If you write "Sorry for the big sig" at the end of your sig, that's a obvious sign of having a WAY TOO BIG SIGNATURE.
  • If you put too big images into your sig, you don't have space left for other stuff.
  • Obviously, sigs with a little more than 250px are tolerated. But if they get just too massive, no.

Okay, thank you for reading this post. Please shorten your signature, use the brake on the postcountcar and enjoy your stay at Runouw.com.

Well, I've seen a lot of people breaking the Level Rules, so I figure for the forum visitors who just visit and go, a more global place for Suyo's level rules may be in order. If not, Suyo, correct me. ;)

SUYO'S LEVEL POSTING RULES=EPIC

When you post your levels, be sure to follow these guidelines:

-> If the level is the first level in a level series, post it in the Level Series Forum. Post the next levels in this topic.

-> If it isn't, go to the Levels Forum and open a topic "USERNAME's Levels". Replace USERNAME with your name. Post all your levels there.

-> Put the title of the Level Series in the Topic Title, if it's a Level Series Topic.

-> If you open a Level Series topic, make sure you have 3 levels at the beginning. Not less. If you have fewer than three levels, but want to post them anyways, post them in your Levels topic until you have three.

-> If Rocket or Turbo FLUDD are used, mention it.

-> If you do remixes of levels, post the original level too (with author name)! Of course, Remakes of SMB don't need credit since everyone knows.

Optional things, but you should still do it:
-> Use code tags:
Code: Select all
[code]LEVEL CODE COMES HERE[/code]

I know some people who refuse to play levels which don't use code tags properly because they want the people learn it. So use it to get more plays.

-> Describe your level - Story (if there is one), Goal...

-> Supply one or two screenshots.

And now for the most important rule...
-> Put actually some effort in the level!

Image
What's wrong with the no effort pic?
1) Length of the level
2) Cutoff lava
3) too easy
4) forced damage

-> no effort

Image
What's wrong with the no effort pic?
1) Cutoff ground
2) Lazyness
3) Oddly placed red coin (see next pic)

-> no effort

Image
What's wrong with the no effort pic?
1) Really crappily placed falling logs (Tip: Hold Crtl to enable accurate Item Placing)
2) Falling log overuse

-> no effort

I hope you know now what's meant.
If you submit too many crappy levels, it counts as spamming and you get banned.

If you have questions, don't ask to ask, just ask!

From Runouw:

I would like to point out that for almost eveyone, the chatbox is a first impression of the forums. We can't let [swearing and swearing bypass] happen as it looks really bad to new members.

A lot of you guys--mods included--still fail to follow the above rule. So I have no choice but to reinforce it:

From Runouw:

I would like to point out that for almost eveyone, the chatbox is a first impression of the forums. We can't let [swearing and swearing bypass] happen as it looks really bad to new members.

It's very simple. DO NOT SWEAR IN CHAT. As Runouw said, it's a first impression. If you want to censor the words or change them around to say something, that's fine. Even then, do not do it too often, because we can still figure out what you're saying.

This being an official rule, you are required to follow it, and penalties will come if I see you breaking this rule.

  • The first time I see you break this rule, I will simply tell you in chat not to swear.
  • If I see you doing it still, you will get a warning.
  • If you do it a few more times, second warning.

Anything beyond that is a ban. I'm sure nobody wants a ban for not following one of the simplest rules on the site.

Seeing as the LDP is still being spammed, I decided to post these rules here.

LDP RULES AND LEVEL REQUIREMENTS: show
#1- We don't care if you discovered how to disable enemies, disable items, make mirror tiles, or make invincible bullets. Thanks to luigi fan 63, the level designer portal was spammed with a crapload of levels with nothing but invincible bullets in them. Keep the secret to yourself. We already know how to disable.

#2- Do not on any condition resubmit your level multiple times. If it doesn't appear on your profile, ask the staff (Shadrixian, Kirby_999, nin10mode, MICrophone, Blablob, fourinone, Superyoshi, Runouw, Yoshi Boo 118, Kirby859, Buffooner) on the main site (index.php) if we deleted it, because the chances are that we did for it being spam.

#3- Any levels that have Mario placed over a shine sprite will be automatically deleted. If you keep doing this, we will have the moderators (Superyoshi, MICrophone, Blablob, fourinone) give you a ban from the site for a certain amount of time. If you re-register to bypass the ban, the mods have all rights to ban you from the site permanently.

#4- Any levels that drop the FPS(frames per second) below 10 will be automatically deleted. These levels lag a person computer and may make them have to shut down their computer. DON'T submit these levels.......or else. >_>

#5- I don't care if you guys think levels that have INSERT-NUMBER-HERE shine sprites stacked on top of each other are awesome or epic. We as level moderators think they are crap. This rule goes back to what I said in Rule #4. Don't do it or else.

#6- Do not make hate levels that are directed to certain portal submitters. Doing so will result in a warning/ban.

#7- We as level moderators are doing our job and keeping the portals clean of spam levels. If you don't like what we are doing, don't say anything. Don't make hate levels. Don't try to act like you are better than us and mess us up by submitting multiple spam levels just to make us have to work harder and delete them all. Doing so will make you our #1 enemy. We will not consider warnings for you ever again. We will automatically ban you. NO EXCEPTIONS.

#8- Due to a couple of idiots, your levels must now be more than 65 tiles in length. I don't care how big you make it, but don't stack the level with parts over each other. You must also use level transitions. If the level is laggy and has an FPS of 10 or below, guess what? It gets deleted.

#9- No more downrating before you test the level. You know who you are. You must completely test the level before rating. Say you made a long level, no lag, and it ran smoothly. Would you like it if some n00b like most of the LDP spammers came and downrated it? No? Then don't downrate anymore.

#10- Only you have the ability to edit your level. Don't blame others or say it was hacked.........because it isn't possible to hack it. Me and Suyo have gone through and fixed the loopholes.

#11- If you are below 11, you must first make a welcome topic in the Welcome forum, else we will delete your levels until you do. This will let us know if you are mature enough to be making levels. You can thank the 7/8/9-year-old LDP spammers for this, by the way. Also, if you are below 11 and have been on the forums for a while, you are okay.

12- No more glitch levels. No more showing off tricks you found. If it uses glitches, make sure you have made a proper level.

13- If you've been banned, don't rereg. We will permaban you. Rereg again? That earns you an IP ban and no more chances to submit a level.

14- No impersonating the mods. We will get you for it. >_>

15- Don't tell someone their level is crappy in a comment. Give some description. Explain a bit. Tell them what was wrong.

16- Don't on any condition tell someone to delete their level; if a level violates a rule, tell the Level Mods and we will handle it. >_>

If your level doesn't fit the requirements, yet you want to submit it it, PM me or the other level mods the level code IN CODE TAGS, and we'll decide if it is okay to be submitted.

Because some people never saw the topic, I'll post the new 'rules' here.

Censored:
Uncensored: 8 facts about the chat you may know or not know topic, wrote:1. Most people don't care if the chat is dead so stop posting "REVIVE CHAT" or "LONG SILENCE"
2. Many people don't care if you are bored so stop posting "I'M BORED"
3. The 5 messages "B", "O", "R", "E" and "D" also fit in the same message, splitting is not necessary
4. Big pictures are way more awesome if you post them only once and as a url or in a spoiler
5. If someone does not react to you shouting his names 5 time per second try a PM
6. No "OMG CLICK MEH" links, like from Pokefarm or those giveadamn things.
7. Channels are there for a reason.
8. Nobody cares about inappropriate stuff like Sp**m and mast*****ing. There are younger children on here, too, and you don't want them going to their parents and asking what mast*****ing is. I hope.
