Not that great of a level, though I can tell that you put some good effort in it, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt with a 4/5. I would give you some pointers, but I am sick and am feeling extremely crappy and can't currently do any logical thinking.

FUN:
A cool idea, but not well executed to be fair. There was serious enemy spam through the level. What makes a level challenging isn't the amount of koopas or goombas in a level but the plattaforming, deadly pits, squashes PLUS the enemies. There was some really basic plattaforming, but it lacked a lot. The level is an intresting red-coin hunt, where you must go to SMB and SMB modern (?). A problem is that you start the level at the old one, and then you get to choose. Why? If you choose the old pipe, you have to redo that again. Wouldn't it make sense to start from the choosing part (hope I'm clear). As a remake, well, it wasn't really a remake but a retro level. I think I got what you tried to do, but it didn't go well for one reason: remakes and retro levels can be cool, but if you focus too much on makin as similar as possible, the level will stop being fun and becomes boring and repetitive. I know there are only Goombas and Koopas in the original level, but why there aren't shy-guys or bob-ombs. Not even in the modern section? However, the level output was good, and it had some (though overshadowed by the flaws) some basic enjoyment.

GRAPHICS:
Em....what I said above about remakes and retro levels also go for graphics. It was a mixed bag. Weather at some points (at the choosing part, for example) the level was balanced and armonic, most of the level it felt just messy. Like the castle. I would consider remaking it. Both castles, and the inside part as well. It looks out of place. The rooms are floating. But the decor was ok in most cases.

OTHER:
+0,5=Little loading time and no lag.
+0,25=An intresting main idea.
-0,5=The signs were completely useless.
-0,5= You can ground pound in SMB? The "movment restriction"seems a pretty dumb idea. The level may be a retro level, but you should allow the player play like SM63.

SCORES:
FUN: 5/10
Graphics: 2/5
Other: 2,75/10

FINAL: 9,75/20 (I should rate 2, but since it was so close I'll rate 3 stars)
Hmm...Ok, the level wasn't perfect. But there's a lot of room for improovment. This seris could be awesome, you are the one that must make it. But I think the most important advice I gave is this one: not for being a remake/retro level means people wil like it if it looks ugly or simple. Add! Make in intresting! You are perfectly able to.

Oh, neat.

Aaaaaanyway, no, I was obviously not a member here that temporarily left 4-6 months ago. But here's a review.

Fun: 3/10. Quite frankly, not very exciting. I had a particularly straight face the entire way through, primarily of these two factors:

1. The game was either too easy at most points or just annoying at others. I do not at all recommend breakable blocks with koopas on them.

2. If you happen to break the two breakable blocks that has a red coin hovering over them, you can't collect the red coin.

Towards the end the boss itself was not at all a challenge, but it could be frustrating for those who do not deal well with a Big Bully charging directly at you as soon as you spawn in the boss room. Although you had a great conception of a spinoff towards Sonic Generations, I personally feel like your view of "Modern 1-1" was very vague. Remember, we have multiple modern Mario games (NSMB Wii, NSMB 2, SM3D Land, etc.) and with their own takes on the concept of "World 1-1". Also, Classic 1-1 was not at all well designed, and it wasn't even as accurate as the original level should be. Plus, it was very hard to find the area to the boss, so I ended up moving my start position because of that.

Graphics: 2/5. Lordpat pretty much said it for graphics. Except I felt more of it was messy and needed to be refined. You had some good use of background decor, which is great. But it wasn't enough, you just had too many errors regarding blocks and the overall concept that you can bring us memories of 1-1 itself.

Other (Personally, I also view this as "Creativity"):

Good:
+ Lordpat also said it again, little loading time. +0.5
+ Very good concept, I like it a lot. +1.


Bad:
- I disagree with Lordpat, however, there was quite a bit of lag due to enemy spam. Also, need more use of the enemy palette. I only saw Goombas, Koopas, and one big bully. C'mon, they give you 20 other enemies for a reason. -1.5.
- Signs needed a HUGE grammar clean-up. Most of the time I couldn't understand what you were trying to tell me. -1.
- So no spin attack, ground pounds, or diving for Classic mode. But you give us 8 hits to boot, not the classic 1. -0.5.
- Lack of original characters. I'm sorry, but it was incredibly hard to visualize the others when you just see signs. And why don't you try a hand at giving us new characters that really add to the storyline, besides having Yoshi and a few others say hi? To create sprites for these kinds of things that Mario can pass through it takes a simple technique called "disabling". But since you probably aren't familiar with this I will not count you off for this. -0.


Total: 1.5/5.

Overall, you scored a total of 6.5/20! Don't worry, I have seen worse that don't even make it pass 1 star. I'll give you two stars since I'm rounding the score to the closest star. However, please take these points into consideration, and maybe fix your level a bit? Or you could consider it for future levels to come.

I meant that primarily for Modern 1-1, also because apparently he decided to use a vague term with "Modern 1-1", thus meaning that it's present-day 1-1, or rather, present-era. The unfortunate thing is that I do not know what time period forth he means with Modern 1-1, so I'm going to assume he meant from Yoshi's Island DS to present-day NSMB U.
