World 1-1 (Overworld Lava Level)
My level for world 1-1 in SML (Super Mario Legacy). It's not my best, but eh, I thought it was a fairly nice attempt. Rates and reviews are welcome as long as they're constructive.

There's also rising lava in the third transition, but because the difficulty was a bit too much for world 1 I had to slow it way down. If you go at a normal pace, when you use the green platform, you should see it at the bottom of the screen moving up slowly but it shouldn't burn you hopefully. But note I will make edits if needed.

Okey...time for a review!

Now, that was an enjoyable weird level. The plattaforming was just.....weird. I mean, you didn't want to stay with average plattaforming so you've made.....well, that. And it was well done, indeed. As for the difficulty, I still recall this level is too hard for a 1-1, and the rising lava part is still to hard, but yeah, it's much better than the last time.
Talking of which, I think it was a very nice idea, but again, it moves too fast, and if you get caught by it, then it's hard to get on the level again, because it does move fast, at least to bad players like me. Well that aside, I can tell you that most of the challanges were balanced and easy.....but again, not enough for a world 1-1, but yeah, nothing to serious. You should consider making the flipping plattaforms go slower, or the plattaform that leads you to the wing cap, all that kind of stuff.
I know you are aiming for plattaforming, but remember, it must be very easy plattaforming. I know your level wasn't made to be graphical, but that doesn't mean it musn't be easy, and that's why we trust on you (one of the best site LDers) to make this challange.
Talking of graphics they were near flawless for the most time. Sure, it felt a bit overdecorated at some times, but that could be ignored considered the nice tricks, tile mixing and the hilarious but nice looking block creatures. At the same time though, there were some parts in particular that bugged me. Like the part towards the ending that changed from volcano to cave. It was too out of nowhere and all in a sudden, maybe you could add some sort of transition.
No lag or loading time to me either.
Well a very nice level indeed. A bit too hard at times, and the graphics had small flaws though. But a very strong first level, I think it will make people ask for more. Well done.

This level is very good. I enjoyed it from beginning to end! I thought the fire worms splashing the lava were funny, along with those on the pillars.
As you said, it isn't your best. Some things that could be improved on are as follows:

1) I got confused at the part where you fly past the pillars with fire worms, and I am very good at this game. I think you should add an easy-to-see & emphasized arrow pointing south so that one would travel downward first and collect the Wing Cap, which leads me to...

2) That moving Green Platform should a) be slower and b) go a bit further in distance so you don't have to walk near the edge of the platform.

3) As lordpat had mentioned, the part with the rising lava is still a little too hard. I do not think it is the speed... but likely the Thwomps. Either slow THEIR falling speeds down or delete them. You could consider slowing the lava down if you'd wish.

4) There are a lot of decorations, in fact a bit too many. This does not hinder the frame speed, but they make me feel crowded, personally.

These aren't big problems, so there isn't much to worry about. I'd give this level a 4/5 rating, but I do not think I am able to rate levels via that rating thing at the top-right corner of their pages in the Portal.

EDIT: Okay. I managed to rate this level. I wonder why it didn't work in the past.

GOOD EDIT: After a bit of thought, I have decided to up my rating for you to a 5/5. I actually no longer mind all of those decorations being there.

Secondly I have made some changes. For example, I took the thwomps in the rising lava transition out, I took out some of the flames at the top so after the green platform the rising lava stops, so it's easier. I have also made it so the green platform goes right to the wing cap.

Well, that's just a very big feature in my levels. Like many other designers here (lordpat too, actually) I put a lot of effort into making the graphics "eye-watering", I suppose. I didn't so much do the graphics to make people feel crowded, I look at other levels and see what people loved about them and often loads of décor and interesting/slightly innovative graphics get a lot of love. It doesn't pass well with all people, but I know it passes well with many. Still, I try to add quite interesting (and apparently humourous) platforming to make up for it to the people who aren't as keen on these graphics.

One word to describe it:

Amazing

I love the graphics and the obstacles. Though it was rather short, it was enjoyable.
I give you a 4/5.
